Hi, I was just wondering how much spending money we should carry with us to Disney. We will be in disney Sept 15-20th, staying at a moderate resort so we have the FD plan. This is our 1st trip!!!
Trip is paid for but just curious about what others take for extra cash. We are driving down from NC so we have figured up $250 in gas. So we were thinking $1000 (that includes gas). Does that seem high or not enough? Not really looking to buy a lot of souvenirs or anything.

Don't forget there are tons of Chase ATM machines at WDW. Every resort has a Chase ATM in the lobby or close by the lobby and so do all the parks and DTD.

not sure how many people are in your group...but ours is a family of 4, I plan on $100 to $150.00 a day for extras. We have had many trips and this number has always worked out for us.

Have a great first trip!!!!

We are a family of 4. 2 adults and 2 girls ages 7 & 2. We are also doing BBB while down there for our 7 year old. So we have allocated $ to that. We already have our girls there dresses and accessories so we don't need to spend any extra there.

Sounds like a good amount. We are a family of 4 also.

Yeah, especially with the free dining, you should be good with those numbers. Tip: Make sure to give a little thought to using your snack credits correctly to Maximize the value of your free snack credits i.e. do not use them for water. (since you are driving you could always bring a case of water and even breakfast items to help with costs.

You should easily be operate within that budget assuming you don't get carried away! Ex. I had myself made into 'carbonite' like Han Solo during Star Wars w/e last year and that was over $100 for just one souvenir on one day. Typically, for most gift/souvenir items, you can get away with spending much less. If you have the dining plan, you won't spend much extra on food. A lot will depend on how many kids you are taking and how extravagant you tend to be. I collect glass slippers from the different parks. If you do something like that, just get the smaller size. Lots of options at WDW. Lots of ATM's and your KTTW card makes it very EASY to get carried away! Have a MAGICAL time!

We have 4 in our group (2 adults 2 kids) and spend about $250 on tips. We give each child a $25 gift card for spending money. We never spend more than that, we're just not souvenir buyers. If we do buy something, it's usually something practical like an umbrella. LOL

I am going to give my boys each a 25,00 gift card and I have started putting aside 20.00 a week ) you don't really notice this) so in 10 weeks when we leave- that's 200.00 saved up... Just doesnt seem so bad withdrawing it all at the same time. I'll probably allow another $200.00-300.00 on the debit card for gas and whatever else.. We normally are good with that... Also- if my boys see anything really neat, I may go back and snag some things for Christmas as a surprise- so that may be a little extra... :)

Spending money is so personal and subjective.
But I think if you have a strict budget of $1000 its doable.

Yeah I'm thinking $1000 is a good amount. The most expensive thing is gas down there and back. And we will get a hotel on the way home. So after those 2 things we are looking at $700 or so to spend while there.

Don't forget to set aside money for tips for your table-service meals. When we had 2 adults and 2 kids, my rule of thumb was that for a "typical" table-service breakfast, the tip would be about $15, for lunch, $20, for dinner, $25-30. For 5 nights, if all your table-service meals are dinners, you'll need about $150 for tips.

I think $1000 is plenty for 5 days.
