BUT once we got inside... it had people, but not a LOT. Looking at the parking lot I was sure it would be wall to wall. But nope.We were both born and raised in Chicago, so Lincoln Park Zoo was where it was at for us, but I've become pretty disappointed in how the zoo is being managed and the controversy that has arisen with the wellbeing of their animals. It was definitely the "ghetto" zoo of the city. I have heard it's been changing for the better. We've rarely driven there, though...it's the bus for us. Though, if you're going with a group, it may still be cheaper to just pay for parking. LPZ is still a sentimental spot for me, however...DH proposed to me at the lagoon right outside the zoo. All that said, we do really enjoy Brookfield Zoo.
So I sucked it up and went to the zoo. Lots of people which was to be expected. I had a great time though, between the animals and people watching, it was quite an experience. I'm thinking I need to get an individual annual pass. We had family passes in the past and we really enjoyed going to special events and members night.
Piglet too, yeah the North lot is still gravelly and full of potholes. It looked like parts were somewhat paved.
It's a beautiful day here in Chicago, so I figured I'd go wander around the zoo for a while. Got on their website to find out what they charge to get in, etc. It's $8.00 to park my car and $10.00 to get in the gate!! Now I don't mind the $10.00, it's the $8.00 to put my car in a gravel parking lot with potholes in it!!!
So what does your zoo charge?
With so many of us in the DC area, maybe we should have a "DIS'in at the National Zoo" Meet.
agnes!
