It's a beautiful day here in Chicago, so I figured I'd go wander around the zoo for a while. Got on their website to find out what they charge to get in, etc. It's $8.00 to park my car and $10.00 to get in the gate!! Now I don't mind the $10.00, it's the $8.00 to put my car in a gravel parking lot with potholes in it!!!

So what does your zoo charge?

Isn't the Lincoln Park Zoo free? You just have to pay for parking or that is how it was several years ago when we went there.

We have 2 zoo's, one is free and the other charges--not sure exactly how much but around $8/adult, $5/kid?

Well...where I grew up and left 3 yrs ago...The Saint Louis Zoo is free and there is plenty of free parking.
I miss that so much.:sad1:

Here in DFW we can go to the Dallas Zoo, adults 8.75, children 5.75, parking 5.00.

Or the Fort Worth Zoo, adults 10.50, children 8.00, parking 5.00.

Ours is $9.00 to get in and $9.00 to park. A trip to the zoo isn't cheap anymore.

Our zoo is free and rated one of the top zoos in the country. :thumbsup2 I think the parking is $8 now, but there's plenty of free street parking. It about killed me to pay $20 to get into the Phoenix zoo last year.

Yes, LPZ is free, but then parking starts at $11!

We go to Brookfield a lot too, but my parents are members, which is WAYYY....worth doing if you're gonna go more than 2-3 times a year. And, if you live in the City of Chicago, then you can get passes at all the local libraries. You can take up to 4 people in on the passes. They have them for almost all the major museums in the city and surrounding area.

Baton Rouge zoo is 5.50 an adult and 2.50 for kids 12 and under. free parking.
N.O. Zoo is quite a bit more 12.00 an adult and $7 per kid.. not sure about parking, but i think its free. Its a great zoo, much bigger than the B.R. zoo.

Yea rub it in...:lmao: Also explore Forest Park more than the Zoo and go to the U. City loop for lunch, instead of Zoo food.:thumbsup2
It is really close. Fritz's is cool.

Maybe you already know about it...I recently discovered the Loop, when dd took a class there.:thumbsup2

Not in the mood to go into the city today, otherwise I would hit the lakefront.

Have a great day today everyone, no matter what you all decide to do.

We always loved going to Brookfield when we lived up there. My favorite zoo by far though is St. Louis. The Asheboro Zoo near us is $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and college students with an ID, $6 for children 2-12. I don't remember if they charged for parking.

Brookfield Zoo does chargs a lot for parking, but there is not that much gravel anymore. Since you now park at the North lot, that is pretty much all paved. At least, I thought so. The only bad part that I can think of is when you enter at teh South lot, and have to follow the gravel road around to the other side for overflow parking.

We are Brookfield Family Plus members. $94/year and we got a bonus 3 months. It includes free parking in the north lot (south lot is $2), admission, admission to the play zoo and the children's zoo, several Dolphin show passes, motortrolley passes, a free guest each visit, discounts on food and merchandise, cheaper rates on camps and programs... it is a screaming deal if you plan to visit more than once. My kids think they own the zoo! And if they are acting like little banshees I can just turn around and go home and I don't feel like I am out big bucks.

Ours is $6, but the website doesn't say how much parking is.

I've been thinking about going lately, but I'm worried I won't be able to get over the whole "Hey! This isn't Animal Kingdom!" thing.

It's $10 for adults and $8.50 for kids at our zoo. Parking is free. If you get a year pass in the month of March it's $65, after March 31 it goes up to $75. Already got this year's pass, so just 2 trips and it's more than paid for, for us. We also have one of the country's top zoos, actually 2nd only to San Diego.

We have a membership to brookfield zoo and it is so worth it. I think it was $94 for the year and it includes the play zoo, childrens zoo, parking and admission, plus you get discounts and quest passes and a few more things. I love being able to go for a couple hours and leave when we are sick of walking and not feel like we wasted money.

The phoenix zoo is $14 to get in but parking is free. The out of africa park is $28 to get in and parking was free when I went last year so I assume it still is.

The National Zoo doesn't charge anything. Don't know about parking. If I went I'd take the Metro.

I haven't been there in many years, maybe that is something I can do with one of my days off now that the weather is getting better.

Holy cow!:scared1: It's been quite a few years since I've been to the Philadelphia Zoo, but I didn't think it was this expensive!

Adults.........$16.95
Child 2-11.....13.95
Under 2........free

Parking........$10.00

Ours is free. Have no idea what it costs to park, as its on the metro line (our subway in D.C.) and we just take that to it when we go.

$19 for adults
$12 for kids
$8 parking

I think I'll visit a zoo the next time I'm in the U.S. I think all those prices are reasonable! Our family pays $82 just for admission...not including food and drinks
