Our tooth fairy has a marshmellow for a brain and brought $5.00 for the first tooth. Not sure what she was thinking!. Second tooth came with a $1.00 and a note explaining the sudden decrease.

My cousin just lost her first tooth and got $5 also... I'm not sure if her parents are going to continue that for tooth.

I left $5 for the first one and leave either $1 or $2 for the ones now. I can never remember which one it is so it is based on if I have loonies or toonies in my wallet

She returned the tooth the "first tooth" in a memory box with a note explaining how the first tooth was more important than the rest and because of that the rest would be worth a $1.00. I....um I mean the tooth fairy was not very creative at the time!

Sadly, the tooth fairy usually forgets to stop at our house. It's just been a thing, and my kids joke about it now. DS said the next tooth he loses will be used in an experiment: what will happen if he leaves it in a glass of coke for days? Will it dissolve, or is that a myth? The knowledge he gains will enrich him far more than anything the tooth fairy would forget to give him. (Before someone tells me what a horrible mom I am, my kids know the tooth fairy is me. I don't think I've scarred them for life, but I'm super busy and need help. I think I have the only kids who are also "santa's helpers." Yes, lately on Christmas eve we make cookies for Santa, then eat them together' and assemble gifts as a team. Which may be kind of different, but works for us.)

1 to 3 silver dollars (3 for first tooth just because the first is special and I think I also left three when an impacted tooth had to come out surgically) plus a new toothbrush, toothpaste or set of flossers.

Ours leaves a gold dollar coin for "normal" teeth, but the first one also came with a little congratulations present. DS had waited a l-o-n-g time for that one.

10.00 for the first tooth and 5.00 for everyone after that. The day she had 6 of them pulled she got 40.00 from the tooth fairy though-figured the extra 10 for the anxiety of the dental chair!

Tooth fairy gave $5 and a wallet for the first tooth. Then $1 for every subsequent tooth. Apparently my Dniece has informed my DD that the tooth fairy brings $10 for the last tooth. Apparently that was all that was in Dsis's wallet that night. Thanks for setting the bar sis!!

DD made out like a bandit when the tooth fairy came. OTOH, she is only 3, and had to have three teeth surgically removed, and won't be getting the new ones in for some time, so the tooth fairy took pity on her.

Shmily1 - I'd like to stop by the next time I have a loose tooth. I did make close to $20 each for two teeth when I was a kid, but I was in the hospital, and the nurses took up a collection when I lost them, in part because they felt sorry for me, but mainly because they were glad to see them go - it made surgery so much easier.

miraculously, the tooth fairy knows how much a school ice cream costs and brings EXACTLY that amount for each tooth, lol.

So it used to be 50 cents/tooth, but recently increased to 60 cents.

Wow! The tooth fairy where some of you live must be some sort of royalty. I used to get 25 cents/tooth. Of course that was a long time ago, but I figured $1/tooth would be the going rate nowadays.

Funny side story...no offense to those in TN intended.

My son lost a tooth while we were visiting my sister over Thanksgiving a few years ago. He was given $2 for that tooth, we told him it must have been a premium due to a shortage of teeth in TN!

Same for us. My DD was the last girl in her 1st grade class to lose a tooth and she was beginning to think she never would. I actually had to borrow a dollar from my DS12 this week to pay for a tooth because I didn't have cash on me. Luckily, she thinks a dollar is great.
