DH is getting fed up with his current job, and keeps talking about going to Home Depot. He has no sales experience but plenty of electrical/mechanical expereince (no license though). What do sales associates in the Northeast get paid at Home Depot? Is it a nice company to work for? Benefits?

Thanks -

SBS

A Cashier, garden area water, and returns, at Lowes in Oregon[employers must pay by law over $7.80] start was $8.20 after 3 months a raise to $9.60.

Paint got paid the highest wage.

Probably not as much as his current job. According to PayScale.com, Home Depot sales associates make, on average, $11.53/hr. Cashiers make less than that, in the $9 range. Department managers make $15.51/hr. That means some make more and some make less. I would think that as a new employee, with no experience, you can count on it being less.

Good Luck!

A friend of mine's hubby got a job at a similar store at $11.50 an hour after losing his FT job, his manager was a 25 year old girl and the asst. mgr. was a 28 year old girl and if a customer asked him a question and he answered he got in trouble for not referring them to the "manager". He had over 25 years experience in painting and yet he had to refer all ?s to the mgr. She really had a power issue problem, the title "manager" went to her head.

if you have no experience they will pay 8.50 with experience its 9.00 to 10.00 and you get a rasie within 6 months

It will depend on where you are located. I am from NC and I started out as a cashier making $8.00 I moved up to a head cashier and when I left 2 years later I was making around $10.50.

They do have benefits! And they advance people pretty quick. Your husband may start out as a sales associate but in 6 months if he knows his stuff they could move him to a department head. When I went to work for Home Depot there was a lot associate that has became a manager it took him 9 years but it paid off for him!

I only left to open up my daycare full time. If I every had the desire to do retail again it would be with Home Depot. My daughter starts at Home Depot next week!

I agree it all depends on where you live. I live in the Chicagoland area and 17 years ago when Home Depot just came to the area I got a part time job and I was to make 10.00 and hour! 17 years ago the economy was much better but I dont think they even start at that now. Well needless to say I went to a few days training and quit because I had a full time job as well and it was too much. I was 21 at the time and trying to save extra money for my wedding but didnt like having to work on the weekends:rotfl:

Where you are will affect the wages, but Kathi OD was pretty much there. Subtract a $1 if you live more in a lower wage area. You will get benefits even for part time and better benefits for full time. The only thing to be aware of this is not a 9-5 job. Usually full timers get a set shift but as the new person this might not actually happen.

I thought about getting a PT job at our Home Depot until I found out they don't give Employee Discounts. :rolleyes1

LOL, I was just curious to see how much Home Depot paid and cliked on the thread just now. I didn't notice the date until just now!:rotfl:

Last month I accidently responded to a thread that hadn't been active in a year. It was just the first thread that came up in the search!
