How Much Does AAA Save?

I am considering joining AAA in preparation for my upcoming WDW trip, but before I pay the membership fee, how much do you usually save by booking through AAA? Also, is it hard to get the AAA discounts? For example, would I have trouble booking a concierge room through AAA or do they extend the discounted rates to all rooms and all levels of resorts? Thanks for any help.

Make your reservations, determine if the AAA rate for your dates justifies joining and then join or cancel the reservations.

All I can say is, I have been a AAA member for quite a few years now and it has truly saved us a bundle when we least expected it: towing ( BIG time) and on our Disney hotel rates. IMHO you cannot go wrong. :thumbsup2

I booked a standard room at POFQ at the AAA rate of $116 per night (norm. $145 for our time frame). I just called yesterday to see what AAA rates were available for the Deluxes and I got the Poly garden view at $279 (norm $329). I was told that AKL standard was available (do not know the price on that) and GF was available at $359 (norm $405 per night). Poly Magic Kingdom view was also available at $379 per night. Hope this helps........I think AAA is well worth it. So many hotels give AAA discounts as do alot of restraunts and stores........

I think it's worth it, not only for Disney resorts but other hotels and towing. I thought I would never have to use the towing, but unfortunately we did back in March. We booked the Poly garden view for $275 with AAA - it's originally $329.

It varies as to what you get - depending on the type of resort and time frame. But, it's well worth it.

Does anyone know what WL would be during value season....like the 2nd week in Decmeber?

I think the 2007 Value Season Rates for WL are as follows: $215 for Standard, $240 for Woods, and $270 for Courtyard. With a 15% discount (I think that's the discount) that would be about $183, $204 and $230 a night (plus taxes). This is for a 2 Queen Bed room. There's an additional fee ($25 a night) for Bunk Bed Rooms. I am not sure if Bunks are available in Standard. They used to be. Happy planning! :)

The following info is taken from the Mousesavers website. If you book a package, which you can do, you must go through a AAA agent. If you book a room only, you can get the AAA discount through Disney or an AAA agent. The number of AAA discounted rooms is limited, and some rooms (like suites) are not included in the discount.

Just as a point of comparison, we're saving close to $400 this year on 8 nights at the Poly for 5 with the DDP. Last year, we saved a bit over $300. The discounts below are off the room; if you book a package, they're off the room portion of that package. For us, it's been a huge moneysaver because we always go in July when there are few or no other discounts out there. But if you're going during free dining ro something like that, the AAA discount doesn't apply (you cannot stack discounts), so you wouldn't really need AAA to get a good rate.

AAA and CAA Resort Hotel Discounts
American Automobile Association (AAA) and Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) members qualify for "room only" discounts almost year-round, though there are a limited number of rooms available for each date. You can generally save about 10-20% at the Disney resort hotels, depending on the season.

In general, the discounts run as follows:

During Value Season you can get up to 15% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 20% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and the Ft. Wilderness campsites.

During Regular Season you can usually get up to 10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and the Ft. Wilderness campsites.

During Peak Season and Summer Season you can usually get up to 10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts.

The only time AAA/CAA discounts don't usually apply is Holiday Season (around Christmas) at the Value and Moderate resorts.

AAA/CAA rates for all of the following year are usually released in the summer. 2007 AAA/CAA "room only" discounts were released on August 6, 2006.

If you try to use AAA for while they offer the free dining discount you don't get both its the same rate at the central reservations but you do get free parking at all the parks which is worth something. Also free travelers checks.:cool1:

We've used the AAA room only discount several times when other discounts were not available. (AP, etc,)

On average, we've saved 10-15%. :thumbsup2
