How much does a WDW trip cost you, per person?

If you want the best bang for your buck, go during value season and or when free dining is offered. You get cheaper hotel rates and food!
Alot depends on if you fly and where from. Also where you stay and if any deals are going on. I figure it's about 1000 per person for our trip we got 4/3 deal, but are only staying 2 of the free nights. dining and flights, and car rental, and insurance. One of our members is 4, so it averages to 1000 per person, but if I got technical she would be less and we adults would be more (2 of us) because her dining is much less than ours. We are also going at peak time.

Also what you plan to do while there, and if you want hoppers or waterparks. We just get the base ticket. But we are doing BBB for 4 YO and also the wonderland tea party. We do get a $200 gift card as part of the package though too.
Some people go nuts with souvies, and others buy next to nothing, so again depending on what you want to do.

Another variable: there are a WHOLE LOT more options at varying price points for a party of 4 than for a party of 5.

Vacations are very important to our family - so they are an automatic line item on our budget.. We save about 7-8% of our gross income each year so our budget is flexible depending on if we are taking multiple trips or just one.
Last year - we did 2 deluxe resort trips to Disney - one was around 5k and the other was $3500.
This year we will be making 2 trips - each 7 days - one off site (our own timeshare trade) and will easily be under $1000 with the military tickets deal, and for December we will be hosting a Grand Gatherings at Poly and YIKES - that will be around 10-11k..

It's really what is important to everyone. Some posters here have mastered the skill of really affordable Disney while others just book what they want when they want and pay what they need to.
Lodging followed by tickets are the huge budget busters. I won't compromise on lodging so I pay the price. (I still can't believe I am staying off site..lol) Tickets are kinda unaffordable - and food - well its not a vacation for me if I am packing and lugging sandwiches into the parks each day or using my in room coffee pot to cook oatmeal. But this works very well for others and for some it's the difference of being at Disney or not.

Good luck- the planning at times can be the best part - it definitely lasts longer then the actual vacation..

There are so many variables involved that make seeing what others have spent kind of irrelevant to what you would spend-
- how many people going and their ages
-transportation there (flying vs driving)
-what time of year you go
-where you are coming from
-how long you are staying
-value vs mod vs deluxe- or staying offsite
-your eating habits ( on the run vs food from home vs fancy table service restaurants)
-how many days in the parks/park hopper vs reg tickets
-souvenirs

I'd suggest going to the disney website ( or mousesavers/allears sites) and pulling up the standard rates for the season you will be going ( value season is cheapest, peak season/holidays most expensive).

Compare the prices

Check the 'special offers' on the disney site to see if they are offering any specials for the time you are going

Figure your transportation costs (driving/flying etc)

Figure your general food costs ( menus with prices are on allears)
and whether it makes sense for your touring/eating style to get the dining plan or pay as you go

Make a chart with these various expenses plugged in and see what you come up with for your specific needs.

Our cost for our upcoming March trip for DD and I:

4/3 deal at POP - no hoppers = $1030

airfare total for both of us = $500 (last time we drove from KC and spent at least that much on gas, food and motels)

We will not use the dining plan - we prefer to snack and eat small shorter (often shared) counter service meals. I have budgeted about $50.00 per day for food. I'm sure that some days we will go over and some under. I am buying refillable filtering water bottles that we can use after our trip instead of having to buy water or have it delivered.

We will use the free $200.00 gift card from the 4/3 deal for my souvies and some snacks, DD is bringing about $150.00 she has saved up.

It's as budget as I can seem to make it!

Hi we went to Disney last year over the 4th of July holiday(High Season) and spent 14 wonderful days off site at Windsor Hills for about 1650.00 per person including food. We where a party of seven, this includes rental van ,air-fare on SW, 10-day park-hopper with water-parks, US/IOA tickets, 3br townhouse at WH. If I did not include the food it would be $950 per person, I would estimate or budget 50 per day per person. Some-days you may spent more, some days less but overall that 50 seems about right. My thinking is say 12.50 each for breakfast & lunch, then 25 for dinner, unless of course you have lots of TS ADR's then this amount would increase. Most mornings we would do breakfast and coffee at the Townhouse so we may not have even spent 50 per day, but I think that is a reasonable estimate. Good luck & Good planning.

This is very easy, we have done 42 trips so far and have this down to a science. We always stay deluxe, lately WL last 5 or so trips, we always go value season and either use AP or AAA discount on a room only reservation. We never get a package or dining plan. We stay between 9-12 nights but here's the breakdown on a 9 nighter for us 2 adults.

Wl standard room value season: 1300.00
Food for 2 of us: 400.00
Tickets: 500.00
Train tickets for 2 RT 450.00

That comes to 2650.00 for the 9 nights, divide by the 2 of us, costs us 1325 each for our stay door to door. If we do a second trip in the same year, throw out the ticket price since we purchased AP's. We do not do Disney for the food, CS serves us fine, we do a grocery stop in route and enjoy picnics at the pool daily plus all our own, beverages, including alcohol. I laway take 500 bucks cash, I use it at the grocery stop and probably spend 100 bucks between food and booze and bring home the other 400. We put the whole deal, everything on my Discover Card, room charges the works, get the print out, check it over and when the statement comes, I pay it off and get the 2% cash back bucks.

I've been attempting to calculate how much a hypothetical trip to WDW would cost, to see if I could possibly afford a trip in the next year or two. So I was wondering what the average was for other DISers. If you do not mind posting that information, that is.

Westjet has a package deal on right now for $1100 per person, flights, and all taxes in from Moncton. On top of that you'll have to buy your meals and souveniers - so add approx $1000. So that amounts to approx $5500. I have yet to package the disney portion and flights separately, so I'm nt sure if it's a good deal or not.

While I'm going to agree that prices will vary greatly from family to family (depends on too many moving parts) back when I started our planning I set a budget and modified the plans accordingly. My goal was to keep the expenses at about $1,000 per person including airfare, transfers, food, tickets and room.

Just set a budget for yourself and decide on what sort of accommodations & experience (dining wise) you want. Then go nuts with the different options. I find the budget killers are passes & airfare. I can easily go without the meal plans, the rooms we get all have a fridge/microwave/toaster & coffee pot so I have WEGoShop (marge) do the shopping for us, we save a TON and eat healthy the way we want to eat.

Generally our trips were running about 5,500 hundred. These figures are "pre-discounts" I always budget on existing information, if I get a discount that's cool but if I don't it won't kill my budget.

Normal 10 day trip
We stay deluxe either WL or BC, so $300/night is 3000
We generally spend $160.00/night on food (including tips) I do have a DDE card so once again this is the high end. We did not like the DDP. $1600
We generally don't buy souvineers maybe a shirt for every one but that's it. $200 tops.
Another 400 on gas, tolls and road side motel for the drive down.
$5600 is what I budget for. so that would be $1400 per person

Last year we booked a package w/ free dining but upgrade to deluxe dining.
For 2 adults 6 nights at CSR with deluxe dining and park hopper water parks fun and more tickets it was about $2200 for both. Since pretty much everything was already paid for we probably spent about $400 between tips and souvenirs.

We have done it a few ways..Once we took 6 to Poly for 4 days/nights..I think that came in around 4500 total. Then, 4 of us went to CSR for a 3 day. We only bought park tickets for one day, and the room was about 110 a night. So, that was about 500 bucks plus fare and food..This time, we have all 6 of us going to Music for the 4/3..We got 2 rooms and tix for about 2200, plus food and plane..
We always seem to take more cash than we need. I keep feeling like it will cost 3,400 a day in cash, but its NEVER like that..more like 150..

The allears site has breakdowns of every cost, so I suggest going there to figure out how much your trip would be. You can see what your room would cost depending on the season and resort, how much the dining plan actually costs per person per day, and how much park tickets cost depending on what kind you choose (hopper or not, etc). This is really helpful in finding how much a package actually costs per person per day.

I was able to use a 40% pin code, so our trip in Dec for 4 adults with 6 nights at CSR, 6 day parkhopper tix, and the regular dining plan will be $750/person before flights. We always do the dining plan, and our trips are usually about $1000 per person, before flights or spending money. On my last trip, I probably spent an extra $150 on souveneirs.

For the 5 of us (me, DH, DD15, DD6, and DD5) it will be $4900 plus tips, stroller rental, and souvenirs. This includes 7 nights at POR, airfare from TN, shuttle from airport, 7-day park tickets (no park hoppers), 5 tickets to MNSSHP, and Disney dining plan.

So all in all I'm going to say about $1200/person

This is how I do it: A. Get room availability, use CODE (Fl. Resident/Seasonal Passholder Code/AAA) whichever one is better. I sometimes book BEFORE the code comes out, and than add the code later. B. Get Flight details....SW from Ft. Lauderale to MCO usually runs me 110.00-135.00 Round trip! C. Spending Money..if I am stying 2 nights 3 days than its 350.00 if 3 nights 4 days its close to 425.00! SO..if the room cost me 82.00 a night thats...246.00 with tax...flight say...125.00 and spending money my grand total is...721.00-800.00 JUST FOR ME!!! What a bargain! I go at least 3 times a year....

As for my trip, it will be for 2 people aged 18 and 19 (my friend and I). I was planning on going during off season, either in the first week of December or the middle of January. We will be staying 7 or 8 days, depending. We will most likely get the quick service dining plan, and will either stay in a moderate, or AKL or WL.

From what little I know the 4/3 deal seems to end in August? Or am I mistaken and is it still going to be available throughout the year?

Arte there any other discounts available I should know about? And what are codes, how do they work, and how can I find them?

My party includes, my husband, my 3 year old daughter, my mother in law, my sister in law, and myself. We are paying for our half and they are paying theirs.

We are staying club level at the Poly. We are also going during the off season.

It's costing us about $128 per person per day. This is not including any extras along the way. We are driving down, it's only about 5 hours. We staying 5 nights 6 days with 5 day basic tickets.

I don't think I've ever spent more than a thousand.

My last trip for instance (just me and DH for four days/three nights)-
airfare (we only had to pay for one extra flight, as we were already traveling and had to fly anyway - we flew from texas to wisconsin to florida to texas - if that makes sense)
So airfare was $411
Hotel - $300 (all star movies)
Tickets - free (got them from family member cm)
Food- $150 (i think - tops)
MVMCP tickets - 100
So it was right around a thousand. We're also not big on souveniers either. We didn't do dining plan, just ate when we were hungry. Sometimes we even split meals or snacks, and sometimes I ordered off the childrens meal. We're very "money conscious"

My next trip will also cost me under a thousand. I'm going with two girlfriends, so we're splitting the costs of hotels and everything else. We're staying for five days/four nights.
We got 40% off military code, and we're staying at CSR so I think we're paying about $200 per person.
Tickets will be about $125
I'm paying for my and my friends MNSSHP tickets (her birthday present $100
Airfare $250
And I'll prob spend $150 on food (not doing dining, and only doing one TS meal) - so total should be under $1000.
For now, I'm very frugal.
