How much does a 7 Day Park Hopper cost?

What's the point of going to Universal if you really want a sixth day at DLR? One day admission to Universal and one day-one park admission to Disneyland are the same price almost exactly. So if you're going to spend that money anyway, why not just spend it for that sixth day that you say you want?

Some people are just philosophically opposed to paying $100 for something they used to get for $10. I just won't do that, starting over and paying full price for a day or two after flying half way across the country and paying the high cost involved in staying in one of the onsite hotels.

And the ticket fraud issue is a red herring. They fixed that by associating photos of all guests on a multi-day pass to their ticket.

We are also considering going to Universal this year. It's partly philosophical. And it's partly because once they tell you that you can't get the 6th day, you lift your head up and start looking around. So I went to the Universal site and saw some things I liked. I never would have looked if they sold a 6 or 7 day ticket. But once they open a person up to considering options, sometimes that person will take advantage of what they see.

Heck, because I took the trouble to look around, I'm starting to re-evaluate ALL of my options. I'm even considering staying offsite and getting a car to get offsite more. I would never consider that if they sold more than a 5 day ticket.

The whole point of the magic your way tickets in Florida is to keep you on property by adding days for a few dollars more, its obvious they think no one wants to go to Disneyland for more then 5 days during a visit.

I don't think they think that at all. Just the opposite: they know some people will want more days and will buy APs. They're counting on it.

If they're doing it to keep locals in the parks more often, they should make exceptions for guests who are staying at an onsite Disney hotel (not locals) so that the number of days you can buy at least matches the number of nights you're paying for at their hotel.

The way things are now, especially with the photo requirement to prove you're not selling your extra nights, the main thing they're accomplishing is to annoy us to the point that we strongly consider going somewhere else and/or shorten our stay. If not for the whole vacation, at least for that extra day or two.

Locals may be their primary market, but they're certainly not their only market.

Because I stay onsite, I see the 'logic' in this thinking, but my God, it would start an all.out war. People who can't afford to stay onsite, or who choose not to, would have a fit, and I don't blame them. That kind of elitism tends to bring out the worst in people.

The way tickets are priced APs can work for people who visit only once per year. If you schedule your visits just right you can get 2 trips out of one AP.

I really wanted the 7 day tickets, but since I couldn't have them last year, we decided to go ahead and do the annual pass. It was only a small amount more than buying another couple of days in the park. We normally go in September, but last year we went in November. Since then, we used our pass for the November trip, we flew in, in May and we will be back for our normal 2 week September trip. Was so worth it to us to buy the pass.

It would be cheaper to buy an annual pass by $2 assuming there aren't blackout days that's the best way to go because you will also get discounts for dining and shopping.

If there are blackout dates at the beginning of the trip you can always upgrade your ticket after the fact. For instance we will be at disneyland nov 27th - dec 6th. We have blackout dates in the first few days so we need to buy a 3 day hopper and then upgrade to an annual pass on our last day at the ticket booth. They take the amount you paid for the hopper and apply that amount to the annual pass. Hope that helps!

Don't forget Orbitz -- they are still offering the "extra day free" and you can get a 4-day for the price of a 3-day park hopper. You can then upgrade and pay the difference from the 4-day hopper to the AP.

Start with a 3-5 day hopper, use those days on blackout dates, upgrade after you've used the hopper.

Granted, all of your good points. But what I think is that TDA already knows some long-distance people will find other options, but that it doesn't matter to them because, at least as I suspect, their forecasts found that that lost business would be more than made up for my locals buying APs and coming to the parks more. In other words, it was a risk TDA was willing to take--and judging by the current AP swarms, it worked. So no matter how much we long-distance visitors gripe, things won't change.

And that leaves visitors like us with one choice. Keep going and enjoy DLR because we love it. Or give it up on principle and explore other options. Everyone's mileage will vary on that, but I think it's self-defeating to make the long, expensive trip all the way to DLR, and once there to give up the time that, when you're elsewhere on the planet, you yearn to have at DLR. Disney won't change, you just lose out, and on a relatively minor part of a long-distance trip cost, too. I just don't get it.

Are we actually confirmed that this is working currently? I know DL doesn't bridge under most circumstances, but if someone's done it recently, I'd love to know! It'll save me about $10 per ticket over my local AZ AAA office ticket price.

So, we ran into this last year where the plan was not to go on our arrival day and just have 5 days in the park including our departure day. Well, we land, get there and sure enough both DH and I want to head to the park immediately. So, we decided on the last day to just get a one day one park ticket which I regretted as we both wanted to go to DCA one more time before we flew out.

This year, we will be there for 7 days and after much debating on do we get a 5 day and a 2 day hopper, we have opted for an AP. the prices is about the same as the premier pass, but since we would have blackout dates while there (and near the end of the trip) we will go for the premiere one. We also decided that we will go earlier next year so that we can use them again and save ourselves the ticket cost, and possible do a short trip in between if possible.

A 5 day park hopper is $305. You're comparing the price of a base ticket. Still, you need to get into that 3rd extra day to make it pay.

Many moons ago Disney offered "Length of Stay" tickets at WDW that were good from the minute you checked in until midnight of the day you checked out. You could park hop to your hearts content and even hit the water parks, Pleasure Island (when it had an entry fee) and Disney Quest.

Sure wish they were still available in Florida and here in California!

I understand that people not staying at a DL Hotel, or even a Good Neighbor, might be a bit disappointed that they couldn't get these, but it could be advertised as a "perk" of staying on-site, like early entry

Length of stay would be nice. I really miss going to a park on arrival day for just a parade or fireworks. Or even just a walk up Main Street. Not gonna pay $100 to do that. And I would love to pop in for an hour on departure day. But same thing. Not spending $100 for that, and not using one of my coveted 5 days either.

Do you mean almost the same as the deluxe pass? That's what we found when we were looking at how to handle our upcoming 8 day trip. We will be at the beach one morning, and are doing a day at Knott's, but we would like to go to the parks the day we arrive, and maybe our beach evening, which we'd need 7 days for. We found that the price for a 5 day hopper and 2 day hopper was very close to the price of the deluxe pass--but the deluxes black out Saturdays in the summer, which is our last day there, so that wouldn't help. So we did the premiers, and are planning to go back after the kids get out of school in May. My older son and I will also take advantage of the no blackout days and go for a long weekend, probably around Christmas. Two trips, a third weekend trip, and the discount will make up for the cost. But we had to go back and forth a lot to decide what to do. If Disney offered even a six day hopper, that would have made things much easier on us!

I found this thread after searching and it seems I have an answer....

This is the exact boat we are in...we fly in on a Saturday morning and fly out the next Saturday afternoon. 5 day PH max is a total let down! We would love to go to the parks Saturday afternoon for dinner and taking in the sights and maybe fireworks. We have 6 full days in Anaheim so are planning a day at Knott's so the kids can go on some of the big coasters....we are not huge fans of Universal in Cali.

We are from Canada and there seems to be a marketing push from DLR that it is now a destination vacation up here, that you need more than a few days. It does seem odd that they will not accommodate vacation packages for a week long stay with Park tickets that match?

Agree. For the amount DL onsite hotels cost, you might as well get better perks. No values there!

Coming from the UK I want to get a good amount of park time because it might be a long time until I return. It's more of a pain to plan then going to WDW, which is marketed well for UK visitors with special packages and deals.

I would like to know this as well. We are considering APs for our upcoming trip and I would like to go the cheapest route possible.
