And what special things has a Captain done for you during a cruise?

Taking my first Illuminations cruise on the 17th of September (weather permitting)

I'm thinking that dh tipped Captain Mike either $20 or $25. He was terrific. A real font of Disney knowledge. It wasn't that he did anything that was so special, he just was really good. You could tell that he loved his job and loved sharing his knowledge of all things Disney. Ours was a great cruise. In fact, my dd has actually emailed Capt, Mike and gotten a response!! What a guy. We're not even in WDW anymore and the magic is still happening!!!

We've done this three times, and that seems about right. We usually fill the boat, and figure about $2 per person. All or our Captains have been great! One gave us a really good tour, wiht lots of inside info on the resorts etc. They will often let your kids drive the boats, when there's no other traffic. One of the guys played a trivia game with us, the kids loved that! Diana

$25 sounds about right for our MK fireworks cruise.

I believe we tipped $25 for our Illuminations Cruise each time. Our driver in May was fabulous. We arrived at the dock approx 15-20 minutes prior to departure and he was already there waiting for us and escorted us to the boat and off we went. He was very friendly and provided lots of information about WDW and the Epcot area. He also threw out some trivia to us to see what we knew :D. This was one of our favorite parts of our vacation and we can't wait to do it again. Enjoy your cruise!

It was $25 for us in March 2001 to the fine fellow shown below.

Thanks all. Thats what I was fiquring, We have a pontoon boat of 10 DISboarders, if every couple kicks in around $5.00 we have a nice tip!

I have heard stories about Captains who gave extra during their cruises, from crusing to different parts or providing interesting facts.

I can't wait!

Captain Mike is great. I tipped him $20 two years ago. He was very big on Disney trivia and loved all things Disney. I hope we get him for our cruise next month.

In fact, my dd has actually emailed Capt, Mike and gotten a response!! What a guy.

goofy4tink, can you possibly get Capt Mike's email for me from your dd? I want to try and request that he captain our boat so that I can surprise him with a limited edition pin from the Haunted Mansion. He's a big collector of all things related to the HM, and since we're going to the Happy Haunts Ball the week prior I wanted to pick up one of the exclusive pins for him as a token of appreciation.

Luis...I'll see what I can do. I just checked her address book and can't identify it. I'll ask her when she gets home from school today. Hopefully she didn't lose it!!
