Depends. when my kids were 5, they were the "typical chicken nuggets and pizza morning, noon and night kids" It was cheap but drove me and Dh absolutely crazy. Now unfortunately they are H.S. football players and they eat enough for linebackers. We generally do 2 TS or buffets a day so the major expenses for vacation is always food. Not unusual for me to drop $200 a day on meals.
I budget $260 per day for our recent trip....10 days $2600....we came home with $500...so we spent about $210 per day....We ate one TS everyday....not usually breakfast and mostly snacks at lunch.....Family of four DH, me, DD - 17, DS - 13.
have you looked at the menus? that would give you an idea of what you would spend and then build in a cushion. don't forget to factor in drinks and snacks throughout the day. we drink alot of bottled water while we are there.
We do the meal plan. It is about $90 a day for the three of us for one counter service meal and one sit down restaurant plus one snack. Tips are not included this year though so we need to add that in as well. We stopped at a grocery store on our way down and bought breafast foods.
If your dd is a light eater you can probably in most cases share alot of the CS meals. I know my dd (12) and I did this quite a bit as most of them were too large for either of us to finish. That being said I think you would be able to stay under about $50 a day...that being in the high range.
If you are eating in the room for breakfast, eating cs the rest of the time (approx 7-10/ meal for you and 3-6/ meal for your DD), your total for the day would be about $35/ day for you both. Then add snacks of about $4 each. It could be less....
Last February I took a last minute trip, just DD7 and myself. We were there for 6 days and only ate CS. I always keep careful track of what I spend(for curiousity) and we spent $165 on food. DD would mainly order her own meal but usually from the kids menu. I think twice we shared a dinner entree and a desert instead of having 2 separate dinners. Also, we bought 1 refillable mug to share.
Hubby and I budget $55/day per person. We usually eat one sit down (buffet) for breakfast or lunch, CS for the other two meals + 1 snack and 1 drink each. We do not drink alcohol.
