My 11 year old daughter's friend just spent a hundred dollars for a pair of sneakers. Hers were $10 at Walmart. Just wondered what other people spent. I just don't see how sneakers could be worth that much money. Maybe I'm just cheap.

My 8 yr old dd has always had hard to fit feet, so I buy her sneakers at Stride Rite. I think the last pair I bought were $55. They are extremely comfortable and have great support though, and they last a long time. My 10 yr old ds has easier feet, he usually wears Nikes or New Balance, anywhere from $30-$50. $100 seems like a lot to me.

We usually spend $20 to $30 on sale. One hundred dollars is very high, considering that sometimes sneakers only last a few months before they're too small or ruined in some way.

I think the most I've ever spent was $25.00-$30.00. Usually something on sale at Kohl's? She likes Sketchers(sp)?

When she was younger I could get away with Wal-Mart sneaks. Now she's 16 and Converse All-Stars are the "it" thing, usually $35-$40.

If you are cheap , I guess I am too. Unless for a medical reason, I do not spend more than $25 in shoes for my kids. They can spend $100 on a pair of sneakers when they have their own job.
Heck , I don't even spend $30 for me , do you think I will spend $100 for a kid? someone lock me up if I ever do that please, it means I really lost my mind!

I used to spend $125 on my sons sneakers. He finally figured out he could buy a lot with that much money so he started choosing cheaper sneakers. He only spends about $50-$60 on them now(he's 19). 11yo dd like Nike's at Kohls and they are usually about $35 and 5yo dd has hard to fit feet so I get her sneakers at Stride Rite. Usually spend about $50.

UH OH, I spent $109.00 on a pair (LeBron James) for my 12 yo DS.

DS has wide feet so I have always had to buy his sneakers at the NEW BALANCE store. When he had kid sized feet, they were about $40. Now that he wears a size 12 mens (he's only 11:eek: ) the cheapest sneaker is $60. I usually get those, although sometimes he needs the basketball shoes which cost more like $80. Not quite $100, but getting there. At this rate we will need a shoe fund instead of a college fund :p !

I spend $25-$50 a pair at Stride Rite. I do get a twins discount when I buy them both shoes at the same time. We've tried buying payless/kmart shoes, but the children have sensitive/wide feet and end up with blisters every time. I really don't mind spending the money. They do a wonderful job of fitting the children at our stride rite store, and they won't encourage you to buy new sneakers if the child's current ones still fit (this just happened with DD...her sneakers were looking a little worn so I thought she might need new shoes. They measured her and asid not to bother yet...her shoes fit just fine).

The most we've ever paid was $42.95. I remember distinctly thinking it was ridiculous but obviously it could have been much worse! 100 bucks for a kid? I've never spent that much on myself, and my feet aren't growing!

My kids are still little ( almost 6 and almost 3) and the most I've paid is $55 for a pair of shoes. I also only buy my kids shoes at Stride Rite, since everytime I buy shoes they fit right. DS also wears a wide, snd they are hard to find.

I usually spend around $40 at Famous Shoes Outlet for both boys twice a year. And then also get younger DS cheap WalMart sneakers to beat around in......I swear that kid has gone through more shoes than the rest of us together. :p The most I ever spent on myself was around $66 for a pair of Doc Martens at the Outlet......and that made me feel guilty.

From $40-$60. My sneakers is also about the same.

I try to spend less than $10 but will go up to $14 if we find something we really like. It's Payless and Walmart for us.

$10 bucks, Target.

I hunt for the clearance prices and buy ahead. I just gave our little one a pair of shoes that I'd bought almost a year ago! LOL

I buy my DS shoes at Marshalls and TJMaxx and I refuse to pay more than $20. He wears Sketchers too.........

Now that being said, he is 1 and a half - I have no idea how I will handle the pleading, begging, imploring from a teenager who must have their $100 sneakers. I hope that he will understand that no matter how much money we have - we shop at outlets - period! You can always get a better deal - my motto is the same as the show's - "the look for less!"

I couldn't tell you what I usually spend exactly. Whatever one of the decent leather brands goes for these days. I can't buy them canvas or plastic sneakers. Both kids tend to have sweaty feet -- they get them from their dad :D and if I buy them the inexpensive ones their feet sweat something awful. My older dd once got blisters on the soles of her feet from it.

I spend anywhere from 10.00 to 100.00 dollars on shoes. I have bad feet. Trust me you right pair shoes on feet when how to walk or stand for long periods on time.

I where new balance shoes in the summer. Spent anywhere 50.00 to 100.00 dollars on them. My foot doctor recommend them.

I once posted this same exact topic on another board, except for toddlers. Everyone who replied said "BUY STRIDE RITE". I almost felt like a bad mom that I put my toddler in payless. But now I totally see their reasoning. payless shoes hurt my DS's feet, he couldn't tell me that but I could just tell by the way he walked. But I still couldn't justify spending fifty bucks at stride rite when I knew the shoes would only be on his feet a couple months. So I've found JC Pennys has the best deals on quality kid's shoes. I bought two pair for $$20 a month ago. I was sooooo happy. One pair actually lights up. I was psyched. Anyway, I'm cheap with how I buy my shoes so that naturally carries down to my DS. I'll feel better spending more when he doesn't grow out of the so fast.
