how much do you spend on food during your visit to Disneyland ?

It totally depends on who you are and what your priorities are. I'm a student right now (aka short on cash)- I budget $20 per day. That gets me 1 adult meal and and 1 kid meal (or 2 kid meals and a Dole whip). I bring my own breakfast/snacks and drink water.

Many people spend far more than that...and special meals (character meals, Napa Rose, etc.) are a big part of the Disney experience for some people.

I guess I don't really think their is such a thing as "typical."

As others have said, it depends on how many people will be eating & what one's priorities are. If you stick to counter service exclusively, you can definitely do it on a budget. If you want a festive or romantic meal, such as a Character breakfast or dinner at Blue Bayou, that will bring the cost of food up considerably.

Here's a link to all the menus at DLR with prices: http://allears.net/dlr/din/menu/menus.htm ; that should be helpful in budgeting. I know it's helped me better plan how much $ to set aside for dining :thumbsup2

You can check out the menus from DL to find out what things cost. Just click on DL Dining above this thread.

I Budget: $50/Person/Day

That's about what DH and I spend, too. A typical day with breakfast + counter service dinner (like Rancho del Zocalo) + snacks/drinks and treats throughout the day, we end up spending about $100 per day.

Thank you spacermaid. That sure will help !

Thank you crazyduck and kittyskyfish. While I know it all depends on how many people, where you eat ( celebrations, character bfast) etc., I wanted to get a ball park figure of what to expect if we ate mostly at the Theme parks and DTD. I assume the $50/ person/day is when you eat at the Parks & at DTD ?

Thank you !

We try to keep it at $120/day for a family of 4 (you can see the girls' ages below). I try to not buy breakfast or too many snacks. Drinks only if they come as part of the meal, otherwise water. We pack fruit leathers, water, cereal, yogurt tubes, etc. for the hotel and/or the park.

We are anywhere between 125 and 150 daily. This is mostly CS meals and snacks. 2 of my boys are big eaters though. And my husband is too.

I agree we spend about $50 per person per day unless we are going to Blu Bayou or a character meal then its a fair bit more.

We budget $50/person/day as well. We keep it pretty loose. Most days we dont spend the entire $50, but on some days we spend more, depending on where the reservations are. :thumbsup2

Days with a character meal will be more, days with all counter service or having breakfast in the room will be less, but it averages out to about $50 a day per person. If we are doing Blue Bayou or something like that I plan for more.

Seems about right. This trip we will eat breakfast in the room with the exception of Day 3 which is Goofy's Kitchen. We have planned to do counter service for lunch and dinner at a sit down. That may change. Our kids (4 and 1.5 will share a kids meal everywhere). We are planning to bring lots of snacks and our own water. Kids and us will most likely have a treat everyday. Our plan is to eat a lighter lunch and an early bigger dinner as the park closes at 8 every day we are there.

DW and I are planning on doing $30 per person, per day this time around. But we have a penny pinching plan. We'll probably eat breakfast (muffins, granola bars, etc.) at the hotel each day, split a counter service meal at the parks for lunch, each get a snack, and then do one big afternoon meal out (preferably at one of the stellar happy hours around (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2524095&highlight=happy+hour) then another snack that night at the parks. Plus the $30 per person, per day plan starts when we are road tripping over from Arizona. With In-N-Out in existence I'm hoping will be able to eat plenty of Double Doubles and can store up some credit for extra dole whips and churros at the park :cool1:

I personally think that if you are careful, eat CS and avoid TS unless you are eating off site that you can get away with $30USD per person per day. As a family of 4 last year, getting snacks at HOJO's gift shop in the morning for brekki, CS lunch at the parks, and TS either at MIMI's or MILLIES we averages between $80 to $100 per day for our family in Feb/09. I tend to be a light eater with dietary restrictions, but even overlooking that am budgeting $30 per day for my solo trip to the mouse in OCT, which I think is doable. We love IN-N-OUT burgers, and the family can't wait to eat there again for our surprise family trip in Feb/11.

We typically plan on $100 per day for 2 adults and 1 7 year old.

We don't tend to eat breakfast other then grabbing fruit or a muffin.

A lot of character meals tend to throw us over that budget.

I wish Disneyland had a decent dining plan like Disney World.

Andy

i plan on at least $100 for me alone to eat, and for snacks etc. but i always seem to do the unscheduled stops at the wine country lounge, and then i end up having dinner there also! and sometimes get extra pretzels to eat, i can't set a limit, it never works for me lol :)
