How much do you spend each week on groceries?

$100-$120 a week for a family of 5 and that includes everything.

Last week I spent about $650. I did not buy diapers. Currently we average around $300 a week. We buy as much organic as we can and no dairy. There aren't many coupons for the things we buy. I pretty much shop the perimeter of the market.

I've gotten my bill down to about $100 a week for 4 of us including toiletries and pet supplies. But dd is away at college most of the time. We also eat out/order in usually 2x per week. I clip coupons and shop sales. I don't have a CVS anywhere near me but I try to take advantage of the Walgreens specials and Super Saver Catalogue. Every 3 or 4 months we end up with about a $200 trip to Sam's Club. As a previous poster mentioned, we are currently in an "eat down" as we leave for vacation on the 7th and when we return I will be unemployed. So, it will be more important than ever to keep to the $100 a week grocery budget!

family of 4 $100-$200 per week depending on where I have to go. every other week I hit costco so that is about $150-$200. I try and stay right around $150 though but its getting harder to do.. Plus dh takes $10 a shift for his food at the FD so that adds into our grocery costs also..

:scared1: I am hoping 650 was for more then just 1 week..

We spend about $125 a week for the 6 of us. That includes everything! We live in Ohio.

Just 2 adults - we spend about 300-325/month. This includes all food/toiletries/cleaning supplies.

I wanted to add that we live in Central Ohio and shop mainly at Whole Foods and buy a good amount of fresh fish each week and all of the other meat we buy is organic/hormone free and if it's beef, grass fed. Before we switched to how we buy groceries we were spending around 100 less per week.

during the week, my kids eat cereal for bkfast - well 1 son, my other eats bkfast at school. my husband eats either cereal, oatmeal or eggs/pancakes - i usually buy a bagel in the morning 3x a week when i go to work, the other days i eat cereal as well - weekend pancakes or eggs - some weeks i do spend more but on the average its about 65 or so!

( i also try to buy eggs at costco)
What about breakfast? You said you don't buy cereal unless it's on sale, so what does your family eat the rest of the time? Do you eat cereal every day and stock up when it's on sale? That alone could cost $25 when you stock up (dependingn on how much you buy)
Also, what about fruits and veggies? I also think you need to factor in the cost of gas you are spending driving to the different stores to get the bargains. If you use a gallon of gas going to/from a store to use a double coupon, you mght also be spending $3 - $4 in gas to get there and back home again.

I try to limit my grocery trips to once a week since gas has gone up so high and I price-match whatever I can. For a family of 4 we spend about $170 per week (including paper goods, cleaners, etc.). We are in New Mexico. I don't feel so bad looking at what others are paying. A few months ago, I was reading posts where people were spending like $50 - $60 per week for a family of five. I've thought about trying Angel Food ministries, but don't know if the food would be the kind we eat. We tend to eat lower fat meals and higher protein. Also, DH makes himself a blender full of fruit smoothie with protein poweder each morning which is a huge budget buster.

I try to keep it around $50 a week or me and two kids (4 and 8) I spend an additional $15-20 with my milkman for my dairy. I entertain clients a lot and travel a lot so I eat business meals out about 5-6 times a week.

A lot of it will be stretched for more than a week but I just got back from the store and I spent $80 (after spending $650 this past Friday). I bought diapers and a few small items. We live on Long Island if that helps. We don't waste anything. We will use every last bit of it. I buy a lot of fresh produce. I try to cook everything I can without using anything processed. Overall I average about $300 a week. Sometimes more sometimes a little (very little) less.

I spend about $170 per week on groceries, and that's for a family of three. I usually spend an additional $30 at a different store for dog and cat food, laundry detergent and contact lens solutions. However, I always seem to run to the store during the week to pick up some other items, spending on average, another $50.00. I don't use coupons anymore because I don't seem to find any for the items that I generally buy.

Sooooo, I guess that puts my weekly total at $250.00. :scared1:

Family of 3- we spend about $60-$75 per week. This includes all food, paper products and cleaning supplies. It does not include the $20 or so we spend on fast food on the weekend.

That's Long Island baby!:rotfl2::goodvibes

I spend about $100 a week on groceries only. I get health and beauty supplies from Target or Wal Mart so those aren't in that figure. I always try to spend $75 but never do.

I buy a lot of produce. I hardly buy any meat. What kills me? I buy a lot of frozen meals... but always on sale! Also I have a cheese addiction, and DF has a string cheese addiction.... Plus we don't drink the same kind of milk, and I buy it in 1/2 gallons so it doesn't spoil. DF is addicted to soda but I can usually buy 2 liters for $1 so that's like $10-$15/month, as he drinks a lot at work instead of home. I also buy one case of water/month so that's about $5 (I drink from the Brita, DF from the bottles).

I also like to buy much HFCS free and lean towards organics or just healthier items. And I have an addiction to Ruffles Baked Sour Cream & Cheddar Cheese, but only 1 $4 bag/week...

I know I buy a lot of stuff I don't necessarily "need", and I stockpile so really I have a lot of food to go off of, but to me if it's not there then I am way more tempted to get take-out. We probably do some sort of take-out once a week at least, sometimes twice but I am really trying to keep it down to once.

I also buy things packaged in single servings, like applesauce and pudding and yogurt, because if I don't it will go bad before I am done, which is just wasteful.

Family of 6 -- we spend $300-400 per wk on groceries, including a Costco run every 3wks that includes paper products (no diapers) and some wine!
My kids pack lunches nearly every day. For meats, we eat mostly good-quality chicken, fish, and some steak. I'm not fanatical on organic foods, but we do avoid anything with hfcs, which pretty much puts us into organics for anything with multiple ingredients. We are definitely spending more than we did a few months ago.

We spend about 100 a week, which includes everything except beef, we bought a 1/4. I use a lot of coupons, save around 10-15 dollars in coupons. We take our snacks, breakfast and lunch to work.

I spend about $100 per week. We are three adults and live on Long Island. I shop sales and use coupons. I probably have the best stocked pantry in the neighborhood! I also have freezer and that is full at the m oment. There are certain times of the year when meat isn't on sale but my freezer is full, so we eat out of that. I also shop at Costco for certain things - it's even better when they send the coupon book.
My kids learned at an early age - don't ask for certain cereal unless it's on sale and Mom has a coupon.
The only extras are dog food, which my husband buys at the pet supply store - about $50 per month.
Good shopping!

It varies for us. But usually for a family of 5 we spend about $500 a month. There are some weeks I only spend $70, there are some weeks I spend $150. It depends what is on sale, if the store I shop at have buy 1 get 2 free meat, I usually spend more, because we stock up.

We spend about 200 a week, but I have been avoiding coupons for a long time now. I got so sick of dealing with them, but I think its time I stop being a baby and start clipping again. That is for 5 people and a cat in Ohio. We drink massive amounts of soda which accounts for alot of that. We don't have a car either, and that can hurt the food budget in a big way. I have to buy at the small place near my school or buy stuff at the corner store, where stuff is marked up to double the regular price. I also live in a bad area... no grocery store within walking distance (unless you wanna walk for an hour to and hour and a half). Everything near our house is over priced, the farmers market is a pain to get to, ect.
We used to shop Aldi stores when it was just my dh and me. We spent at most 30bucks a week, and sometimes we ate off ten dollars for a week. I think back and shutter because honestly most of our meals were gross.
