How much do you spend each week on groceries?

I was watching Jon and Kate Plus Eight this week and on one episode Kate said she spends $150 a week on groceries (later I found out she meant just for 1 store -- how many stores does she go to a week and how much $$ does she spend at them??)

Anyway, how much do you spend on groceries per week and how many people are in your family? Oh, and where do you live?

I average (drum roll) $350-$400 per WEEK and there are only THREE people in my family. This includes everything -- paper towels, pull ups, etc.

I don't clip coupons and don't look for specials. I think I'm going to need to start, though. I impulse-buy frequently as well.

Thanks for your input!

For the 5 of us and a dog and a cat (and all paper goods, cleaning stuff, and toiletries), I spend around $150/week.

Since i started CVSing, its cut down on my supermarket bills alot. I no longer buy any shampoo, medicine, etc or anything that CVS sells. WE have 4 people in my family - the two kids are 6 & 8! I only spend about 65 a week on food - I don't buy mostly frozen veggies and not much fruit! i try to buy in bulk when something is on sale - we also eat out or order in about 2 or 3x a week.

i spend about $180-$200 a week. i hate going to the store it seems like every week more and more stuff is going up! there is 4 of us the kids are almost 3 -next month;) and my 8 yo old son. this also includes pull-ups and wipes which is a total of almost$26.00 im so tried of paying almost $20 for a pack of pull-ups. next week we are doing big girl pants:rotfl: i also don't use coupons i need to,but i don't know of any good websites w/ coupons:confused3

I spend between around $60 a week. Family of five.

This includes toiletries, paper towels, ect.. but not pet food.

We don't eat meat, DH doesn't eat dairy or eggs. We eat in season veggies, lots of dishes revolved around beans. We don't have chips, cookies or soda in our house, unless it's a special occasion. I shop mostly at Aldi, but I will go to other stores, if they have wonderful deals. I have to visit other stores to get specialty items that Aldi doesn't carry as well.

I spend $100.00 a week. For a total of $400.00 a month.
This is for a family of 3. This is including toiletries, tissue, paper towels.
Sometimes we use coupons and sometimes not. Its not really a big issue to cut them.

Wow, I also "CVS" and we have 2 adults and 3 kids (7,6,4) and I hardly spend any money in the grocey store. Granted we eat not so great stuff (a good amount of frozen foods) but I probably spend only $60 every couple of weeks!!! Literally all my milk, breads, snacks, cleaners, cosmetics, and anything else possible comes from CVS.

I spend about $100 a week for a family of five. I've been really trying to clip coupons and shop deals, but now with my kids off for the summer already (they go to preschool and it ended last week!) I don't know how much time I'll have for bargain shopping. That $100 a week also includes diapers and wipes for my one-year-old, so I suppose that's pretty good. As my kids grow, I don't know how I will keep grocery expenses under control!

I know that we average about 200.00 to 250.00 per week for two of us. We tend to buy a lot organic items, fresh fruits and vegetables. We also cook out a lot and tend to have a few friends drop in on the weekends. It all adds up.

I spend $150 per week (usually less) for our family of 5. This includes fresh meat, veggies, lots of eggs, specialty foods for food allergies, pet food, paper products and toiletries.

I cook every meal. We rarely eat out. I just watch prices, clip coupons and stock up on the deals where I can.

We spend around $180-$200 a week for our family of 6. I "cvs" a little, I get
all my razors, shampoos, pull-ups and diapers there, so it doesn't include that.
I do clip some coupons but I am not the best at getting all the deals.

I spend under $100 a week for a family of 5. If I am buying paper products and paper towels it just over.
I do clip coupons and buy only stuff thats on sale. I try to only buy when its on sale and I have a coupon for it, but sometimes that doesn't work out. I do stock up on food so there are times when I can stretch my shopping out to two weeks for about $150.
I can't remember the last time I had to buy shampoo, deod, or toothpaste. I have a very large stock pile of those items thansk to CVS and clearance sales at Target :thumbsup2

Wow. I never imagined people actually get all of their groceries at CVS. It always looked to me that they just sold junk food: crackers, cookies, ice cream. What am I not seeing when I go to CVS?

We're close to that. Family of 5, plus a dog. I would say it's anywhere from $100-$150/week and that would include EVERYTHING from Publix, Costco and Target. I spend $60-$75 week just at Publix buying groceries. I am a thrifty shopper though. I cut coupons, I meal plan around the sale flyer and I only buy stuff (except for staples like milk, bread, etc.) when it's on sale.

I tend to buy staples at Costco, because they are cheaper there: toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, milk, bread, cereal, juice, etc.

I live in NJ. I hope you don't mind my asking, what do you buy for $65 a week? Especially in NYC. I think you could teach me a thing or two about saving $$ on groceries. Please!!! Thank you! :)

I'm so sad after doing my first TMMO budget on Dave Ramsey's plan. We probably spend $200/week (if I'm shopping.. worse if DH shops hungry!) and another $100/wk eating out. DH spends $75/wk on his work lunches.

I'm ready to try to do better, but he has hang-ups from his childhood around what kind of food I put on the table. They were pretty poor, so the illogical side of him gets upset when I put inexpensive cuts/dishes on the table. It drives me crazy, but it's cheaper than the cost of a divorce or counseling!

We're doing an 'eat-down' evacuation of the food pantry now. I'm not buying any meat this week, and we are eating all the rice/sides we have in the pantry before I buy more. I just bought a 25# bag of jasmine rice at Costco today, that should last us 6 months for $15!

$150-$200 for a family of four (2 adults, 2 teens). I shop sales and clip coupons, but live in the land of no doubles so I really don't save much with couponing.

I do the majority of my shopping monthly with trips weekly for fresh fruit, veggies, milk, and cold-cuts...

Monthly w/ all toiletries $375.00
Weekly for extra's $25.00

On month's with 5 weeks I drop the montly by $25.00 so that it is the same each month...

$475.00 for a family of 4 (DH, me, DD15, and DS12) If we eat out, it comes out of this budget, so needless to say, we don't eat out often.
