How much do you save?

How much do you save on a Disney trip if you use an AAA discount? Would it be worth it for me to get a memebership just for the Disney discount? Can you use it toward a Deluxe Resort room?

It varies between 10% and 25% depending on where you stay/when you go. There are almost always discounts available. In general, the deluxes have the lower discount amounts (usually 10-15%, no more) and the discount is 15% during VALUE season, and 10% the rest of the time.

So, it depends. Seeing as how an AAA membership is only around $70, I'd say it's usually always a savings of something.

We have used AAA for our past 4 trips, we always save a nice amount. It is usally about a total of $200.00. This past trip we also received an upgraded woods view compared to the std I had originally held with Disney directly. However, I do book our airfare on my own.

Also, we do get the MYW package with the DDP. We stay at either deluxes or mods.

Plus, you also get the other benefits that you receive with the AAA membership outside of your vacation, such as the automobile assistance and other discounts around the country. So, I think it is worth it, at least it is for us.

"American Automobile Association (AAA) and Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) members qualify for "room only" discounts almost year-round, though there are a limited number of rooms available for each date. You can generally save about 10-20% at the Disney resort hotels, depending on the season.

In general, the discounts run as follows:

During Value Season you can get up to 15% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 20% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and the Ft. Wilderness campsites.

During Regular Season you can usually get up to 10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and the Ft. Wilderness campsites.

During Peak Season and Summer Season you can usually get up to 10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts.

The only time AAA/CAA discounts don't usually apply is Holiday Season (around Christmas) at the Value and Moderate resorts.

You don't have to book AAA/CAA rates through the Auto Club. Room-only reservations with an AAA discount can be booked directly through the Disney Reservation Center at (407) W-DISNEY or a travel agent who specializes in Disney travel. Just ask if there is an AAA or CAA discount for your dates and resort.

AAA/CAA rates for all of the following year are usually released in the summer. 2008 AAA/CAA "room only" discounts were released on August 5, 2007."

My AAA membership is $64/year. If you travel much at all, I think it's worth it. Besides the discounts you get at Disney, you get discounts at many other hotels and attractions. There are lots of discounts on things that have nothing to do with travel, as well. I know I save more than the cost of the membership.

Is the AAA discount of 10-15% only on the room portion or is it on the total package? If it is on the room portion only, what is the advantage of booking the package with AAA vs. room only with Disney and purchasing tickets at the Disney Store on my own.

It's on the room only part. If you call up AAA I hear they can give you a discount on the whole package. I didn't try that, though. I just booked today, and I saved $200 on a week long stay at POR this August!

If you book a room only package through Disney directly, then you get the savings of the 10-15%. You cannot book the package through Disney with a AAA rate. That can only be done through AAA directly.

That is what we like to do. We book our package with the MYW and DDP through AAA directly. We usually end up saving around $200.00 or so compared to booking the same thing through Disney directly.
