How much do you pay your housekeepers?

And some people have a spouse who makes six figures who wants to help with the cleaning...vacuuming, cleaning the toilet (he makes the biggest mess, so he should be the one to clean it...seems fair to me), making beds and sweeping. I shouldn't have to do it all...we've always shared cleaning even though I'm a SAHM.

Yes, they do. I'm very glad my DH is an equal partner when it comes to cleaning. :)

I love this!!

I have a very small, one-story house and can't do much in the way of cleaning when DD is asleep because it will wake her. No vacuuming, no cleaning the bathroom as it borders her bedroom & she can hear it all. No doing dishes either as she can hear the clanking sounds in her bedroom. About the only things I can accomplish when she is asleep is dusting & picking up things. It makes it hard to keep the house clean.

I need to be more creative in finding ways like you described to involve her in the process. I try to clean while she's awake but she doesn't play by herself very well still so she's always demanding that I play with her.
Have you thought of getting a white noise machine? We used one when both of our girls were little so that noises would not wake them. It worked like a dream!

Sigh...I hate these threads. Not because I am jealous of housekeepers (oh wait I am) but what some of you are paying. Some are paying cleaners more per hour that what I make at my corporate job. Talk about a hit to your ego! lol

We are in a low cost area (obviously). My boyfriend now has a cleaner on my request (boys are gross). She charges...drumroll please, $10 an hour. That is a living wage here though and typical for a non degree position.

BTDT and bravo to you who do. I just don't want to anymore and as long as we can afford it, i'm gonna have a housekeeper.
!

:banana::banana::banana: Amen!!!

So surprised that people are so judgemental of what others do. :confused3 If you want to clean your own home, do it. If you don't and can afford to pay someone, do it. :confused3

ccgirl, i want the name of the housekeeper! wow!

I would give it to you but she moved far away. I so miss her! She would even organize clothes/shoes in closets by colors. I mean this woman was truly amazing and made my life so much easier. Each cleaning she would pick a "project" to do. She even dusted my china in the china cabinet. I don't think it's been touched since. :rotfl2:

Seriously....I don't get home until between 6 and 6:30 and still have to find time for cooking, dishes, homework, packing lunches, baths/showers etc. No time for real cleaning until the weekend. Can't wait until the summer when I can actually enjoy my weekends instead of cleaning.

Yup...exactly. Doesn't make any one of us better than anyone else. Some people make well under 6 figures and still choose to budget for a house cleaner. Not sure why people need to announce how much they make but, whatever. To each their own. :goodvibes

We live in a 2200sqft house. I use one of my friend's MIL who does this for a living. We pay her $65 every other week. Love her!

This thread is a great ego boost. I have a demanding 3yo as well as two other kids AND I clean my own house. I didn't realize how super spectacular that was. :cool1:

I kid. I would love to have someone come clean my house on a regular basis. But oh well, it's good exercise.

HA! I think we are all spectacular. WIth a housekeeper or without one I know us moms/wives have a hard job! KUDOS to us. :)

I pretty much keep up with normal housekeeping...I'm not Betty Crocker by any stretch of the imagination, but neither do I live in squalor.

What I'd really like to do is bring in somebody a couple of times of year for a thorough and deep cleaning: shampooing carpets, deep clean grout, moving furniture/appliances, etc. Kind of like a car detailing (which I've never done, either). Has anybody ever done this? And how much did it cost you?

I spend about 40-60 minutes a day cleaning my house. I'm not including dinner cooking time nor laundry, since those happen on a daily basis.

OH! This is why I spend 4 hours each Saturday cleaning! I do believe that it takes this long (40-60 min) to keep your house **** and span. Trouble is, I don't get home until 7-7:30 most nights after work and going to my fitness classes. So that's cooking and eating time from 7:30-8:30, then cleaning for me from 8:30-9:30. Time for watching a show with the hubbs, playing with the dog, reading...oh, about 30 minutes or so.

Can't wait to have my cleaning lady come over for the first time tomorrow night!!!! :cool1: :cool1:

Yes, when we moved to our house (1998) we had a service come and clean before we moved in. shampoo carpets, clean floors, clean bathrooms, clean cabinets, clean appliances. It was $400 back then. Windows would have been more. I had to have them come back and re-do the cabinets cause they were still greasy outside and they didn't clean them inside ..:confused3. I *assumed* cleaning inside cabinets would be included...not necessarily true!

I would love that as well! I am guilty of not being able to say "no" and too often I am exhausted from being over extended.....and its entirely my own fault.

Everyone's time and sanity are valuable (and limited) so we should all do what is best for us.

We have an 1800 square foot house and we pay two women (whom I adore) $120 every three weeks. It is wonderful and I love knowing the house is getting a deep cleaning once a month. They clean the inside of the fridge and organize it, clean my coffee pot, baseboards, change the sheets (which I also do twice a week, but it is nice not having to do it once a month), fold the towels and put away, vacuum, dust, and just generally scrub everything.

I am also a state at home mother. No apologies! I think everyone budgets for things differently.
