How much do you pay for kennel?

I think mine is around $30 a day for my 2 big dogs to share an indoor/outdoor run. I think I pay extra for daily play times. This is at a vet. I'd love to find more of a resort-type facility that has 24-hour staffing. Yes, it cost me as much to board my dogs as it did to fly to France. Yes, they keep me from taking many trips, but they sure are worth it.

Buster weighs 70 pounds, and it cost $12 a night at Big Times Kennel near our house. Buster spent 6 months in an animal shelter before we adopted him, and he actually likes to go to the kennel because he rushes in to see the other dogs. He is also very happy when we come to get him, I guess he thinks he has the best of both worlds, a home, but also lots of friends to visit.

We're on our way! Buster is already on vacation.

PS. When we're in Cape May, it is much more expensive. We use Costal Pet Sitting Service, which is wonderful, Buster gets boarded for $25 a day. It has been a year since we've used Annalee, so I don't know if that rate is current.

I live in a suburb west of Boston and I pay $29/day to board my 15 year old dachsie with her veterinarian. I pay it gladly because I know she will receive excellent care from someone who knows all of her health issues. She had successful back surgery six years ago and needs to be treated with kid gloves --carried up and down steps and such. She is on Hill's Prescription Diet and arthritis medicine but other than that, she is in great shape for an old girl! I just feel better knowing she is with her vet and I can enjoy my vacation without worry. The vet techs take her out of the crate to keep them company at the front desk so she gets plenty of attention. A pet sitter would not work for her because she needs alot of attention and affection.

For 12 days it is going to cast me close to $400 to kennel my dog. He is staying at Best Friends Pet Resorts, which I think is a national chain.

I'm curious as to what others pay to kennel their pets. Is this a lot? Does it seem too cheap? About right?

Thanks!
Sheri

Sounds high to me. On our last trip we boarded our two dogs (1-55 pound, 1-70 pound) for 12 nights.

The cost was $320 and this included personalized play time daily and bath on pick up day.

The place we take them is fantastic and they truly love all the animals. I'm very comfortable leaving them in their care.

EmeraldX we live in the Boston Area and the best kennel we have found is Red Dog Inn in Mansfield.

Wow, it IS a small world. :) I live in Norton, on the Mansfield line, and pass the Red Dog Inn every day. We must live very close to one another! You're right, that kennel is beautiful, and I love the private rooms where your dog has its own bed and gets to watch movies like 101 Dalmatians! LOL

I didn't look into them for our upcoming trip because I thought they'd be too expensive, but $400 for 15 nights is very reasonable. My dog is a Great Dane, so they may charge more, but if it's not a significant amount I may have to rethink my plans...

Well, just thought I'd check in to let you know we're neighbors!

Hi,
We take our large rotweiller to Fort Hydes, they only charge $12.00 per day and an extra $3.00 for them to take your animal out of the kennel to play with for 20 minutes a day...So we pay in total 15.00 per day....
Merry Christmas
