How much do YOU pay for auto insurance?

So this tort option is something new or only offered in certain states????? Is this the insurance term or just something people call it? I knew my insurance people (married couple) really well. They were like family and advised me well on insurance and never once did I hear them talk about tort anything.....and they had been in the business for almost 30 years.

Exactly! If you carry only limited tort (costs less) you are only allowed to sue the other party in the case of an accident if there is "significant" pain and suffering. I learned the hard way when I was in an accident in 1993. Despite a week in the hospital, 6 months in PT/OT and jaw surgery - I still had to prove that I had significant pain and suffering  Took me over 3 years to settle my case (and the other drive was completely at fault - that wasn't even a question!)

Same here! I was in an accident in 1994 carrying limited tort and I'm still suffering from the effects of that accident. The insurance quit covering me for the injuries about a year after the accident and I definitely needed more care. What a mess.

I hate this whole tort thing. It really punishes those who can't afford to pay the premium and those are the ones who need it most.

I pay 295 dollars per month for my Mini Cooper S. Damn New Jersey insurance theives!

I don't have any blemishes on my record either...

I pay about $100 a month-- DH doesn't have a car but he's on my insurance because he drives when we go places together. We both have good driving records. (His is a little better than mine, ahem, but his driving record is all in Australia so I don't know what they really take into account!)

Here in West Virginia we just got a state wide discount and still pay $195 a month. That is for a 2001 Sequoia, 2002 Windstar (loaded so higher) and a travel trailer.(camper is about $12) Way too high!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: You think that's high? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We pay $330 a month. That's for a 10 YO Toyota and a 3 YO Hyundai. Clean records AND a Good Driver discount!

we pay about $1800/year for a 1998 Windstar and a 2001 F150...we both have good driving records (step 9) and we get a slight discount for having homeowners with the same company. I thought about dropping the collision on the Windstar since it is paid for now ~ DH didn't want me to and now we are about to purchase a new car so it's bound to go up a little more :(
