hmm, I was a member for nearly 20 years, but will never use them again. My wife had to use the lock service twice while I was traveling one year, and later, we broke down in downtown Washington DC while vacationing, and waited 3 1/2 hours on a dangerous street for the aaa tow truck. We finally got one another way and called aaa to cancel. THey had no record of our original call. later that year, July 30, I had a flat tire in the country bringing my 2 girls and 3 others back from swimming. I was informed that I had used my 3 services for the year and would have to pay cash for the tow. I had no cash. The girls were in swim suits, no shoes, we were completely stranded. My membership renewed on July 31, but they would not simply start my new year 12 hours early, even though it had been pre-paid by CC. They would not let me use my CC to pay them for this tow. They showed my call for a tow in DC as my third use, even though they never actually sent a truck and told me I could call on monday to dispute this......, Absolutely no sympathy to my situation. I asked about cancelling the 31st membership and just filing a new one to start immediately and she said since she already knew I was in need of a tow, she would not do that for me. A farmer raised the back of my van with his front loader while I risked my neck changing the tire. AAA put me and my family at risk twice that year, I had no tows at all that year, but they charged me for all 3 services and were incredibly callous about it. Some service company if you ask me. I use Texaco road star, with 5 uses per year, they are friendly and flexible with more towing companies than AAA and offer discounts as well.
