I'm not sure what to budget for my husband, myself and my five year old son. So, will any of you share?

How much money do you spend on food and souveniers each day? Do you eat sit down meals or counter service? Do you buy souveniers each day or just one big item?

I can't tell you per day really. We usually plan 1 sit down meal per day like a charater breakfast or PS dinner. We budget about $1000 -$1500 for food and souvenEARS for an 8 day 7 night trip. The rest of the day we usually try to keep it light from carts or counter service. :flower:

Budgeting for food is really a matter of how your family eats, ie: are they big eaters for all three meals? Do you like to snack and eat only two sit down meals a day? I would suggest going ove to allears.net and looking at the menus. Then with those menus/pricing in mind, figure out what your dining scedule will be like - let me show you

For a five night trip:
2 character meals = 140 with tips
3 sit down dinners (moderately priced) = 225 with tips
4 counter service meals = 145
5 snacks = 50

As for other things like Tshirts, pins, etc. just figure out how much you can spend on each other and anythings you need to bring home to family and friends. B/C you can spend as much as you want at Disney! :cool1: I would suggest limiting it to XX dollars, whatever your budget can stand.

I hope this helps.
Have a wonderful trip. ::MickeyMo

Im planning on $70 per day food for DS13 & myself this Aug

I can't tell you how much for kids... But generally I assume $250 per person for food (thats 7 days 6 nights). That's only fast food places though.

But I found out that if you go with the Dining Plan it would cost me like $20 more and I would get 1 fast food, 1 sit down, and the snack a day..

As for spending money. Depends on what you like to get. Like I used to get sweatshirts when I went (and my dad would only let me buy embroidered sweatshirts) which cost about $60.

But now when I go I usually bring about $100 (per person) because that will include basic gifts for friends and family and a stuff animal (which I always get at the Animal Kingdom). And I generally never spend my $100 worth.

since there are 4 of us and the kids are adult sized we usually plan on spending about 200-250 per day for food and souviners. this year will be better because as dvc members we are planning on eating every breakfast n out rooms and possibly a few dinners. since this next trip will be our 3rd in 4 years the cost of souviners will definitly be less. i have to get a few t-shirts, DW buys on snowglobe and kids(17&15) usually just want a t-shirt or 2.

so this year the budget will be around 200.

is anyone else's countdown clock seem to have slowed down this month :rotfl:
