roughly I mean. I'm trying to figure out if I should try to find some around here before I go or just wait until we get down there.

I would buy them at Target or the Dollar Store. We bought a bunch 2 for $1 at the dollar store.

I think they were about $7 or so in the parks. The real problem with the park ponchos is you look like everyone else when it rains. Hard to find your party when everyone is wearing the same color.

The park ponchos are thicker than the dollar store ones though.

Thanks, I didn't even think of the Dollar Tree or Target! I guess I'll be headed there tomorrow to get the last minute essentials for our trip!!

DH and I had to buy them on 11/1 at MK. We had just arrived at WDW and I left the ones I brought from home in a suitcase :rolleyes1 . They were $7 each for adults and I believe they were $5 for kids. They are much, much heavier than the disposable ones I bought at Target and you did not feel like you were wearing a plastic bag on you (not as sticky). This year they were clear with a Mickey Mouse on the back. It poured all evening while we were there and I am not sure if we would have stayed as long as we did (until the park closed) had we been wearing the cheapie ones. I think they would be good only for quick showers, but that is just my opinion.

Okay, thanks for the heads up. I suppose what we'll do is buy some super cheap ones before we leave and use them for the water rides (I hate being wet) and if it happens to rain, buy the Mickey head ones at the parks!!

I think around $7. When we went last year at Christmas we took my in-laws with us. They thought the price was outrageous so they wore GARBAGE BAGS! Yes, garbage bags with their head sticking through a hole at the top and arms through holes they ripped in the sides! It was tremendously embarrassing.

When I was there in June and it rained, ponchos in the park were as much as $10.00. I love Mickey but there is no way I would pay that just to have his likeness on a poncho. :confused3

I've found heavy ponchos at Family Dollar for $1.00-$2.00.

The $2.00 ones were coats that snapped in the front.

I agree with many of the previous posters that the cheap $1 store ponchos are the way to go. I usually take a couple per person to wear in case of a shower and/or on very wet rides. After they are used, you can throw them away or give them to other less prepared guests entering very wet rides. The best thing is that you don't have to lug a wet poncho around for the rest of the day. Granted, I have been lucky enough to not have to deal with alot of rain on my WDW trips. If it were raining all day, perhaps I would decide to go with a mickey poncho. Who knows?

When we went 2 yrs ago we got cheapy ponchos from KMart...I think we paid $1 per poncho. We didn't have to use them until the very last day we were there and then it rained off and on all day. :umbrella: One thing I like about these is they're smaller and can folded tighter to take up less space.

Hey SJC1984....I noticed your bio says you're from GA/TN. Am I correct to assume Chattanooga area? We're from small town north of Nashville. Hope ya'll have a WONDERFUL time at WDW!

I like the cheaper ones. They are probably not the greatest if it rains all day, but for short afternoon rains they are perfect. When the sun comes out, you just take them off and trash them. I would hate to have to try to refold and carry around a wet poncho. The cheaps ones only weigh an ounce or two so its not problem to carry 4 or 5 in a fanny pack, enough for the whole family.

Well, I'm in the minority here, but I prefer the thicker ones at Disney. We had the .99 from Walmart but we found that they just didn't hold up. We ended up forking over the $ ($7) for the WDW ones. Keep in mind that we wore them ALL day, EVERY day for 5 days! I suppose for the occasional shower, the cheap ones would be fine.
