How much did your trip cost?

We are a family of five, we went in November '07...

6 nights at the HoJo- $385
4 (4 day) Convention Park Hoppers- $525
Food- $600
Souvenirs- $200
Gas- $300

Total- $2010 :mickeyjum

Lemme see now, next trip end January:
5 nights (DLH and GCH in view rooms): $1350 including tax
food: $660 budget - probably less
stuff: $200 - probably less

We have APs from last August.

For 2 Adults & 1 Teen:

$860 - 7 nights @ BWPPI (mini-suite)
$940 - RT plane tickets from Seattle to John Wayne airport
$150 - our share for shuttles between home, hotel & airports
$150 - our share for rental of 8-passenger van
$240 - Universal
$ 90 - Knott's
$540 - 5-day Park Hoppers
$150- Medievil Dinner Show

Total = $3120

Add another $1000 for eating and spending for a grand total of $4120 :scared1: Slightly more than the $300 we spend on camping trips, even with filling the gas tank of our MH.

That's why we only go to Disney every other year...not every year. I know it's hard to believe, but there really is life beyond the Mouse. :rotfl2:

For our family of 4

$1517.00 11 nights at the Anaheim Desert Inn
$1400.00 airfare, airport parking & cab (to and from airports)
$2300.00 meals, snacks, tips and souvineers
$ 500.00 Fantasmic PS and Discover Magic Tour
$ 175.00 Groceries delivered to our room
________
$5892.00

This is our BIG trip of the year so we generally spare no expense.... well except that we don't stay at a Disney property. I am sure it could be done cheaper still but this is what works for us so far!

Still working on it but here are the current totals:

Airfare from Houston to Ontario - 431 X 4 = 1724

(should have waited on airfare, but wanted to be on the same plane as my parents and they wanted to buy NOW :sad2: )

Rental Car - AVIS - Sat-Thur - Full size sedan - 150 plus fees = right at 200

Still working on the rest...

Ok we haven't left yet but here are the totals so far and the estimated totals:

3 adults 2 Children 1st week of March

Package price including:
Alaska air kids fly free from Spokane to LAX
Airport transfers
insurance
5 for 3 park hoppers
AAA discount at Carousel inn for 5 nights

$2,923.28 through AAA website

Food about $150 per day = $750

Tips = $40 for suttle drivers, $30 maid, $400 spending

Grand total of $4143.23 estimate

This is the breakdown of our trip in Oct for 2 adults & 2 kids:

parkhoppers: $0 (we all have APS)
7 nights DLH concierge : $1800
gas from WA: $250
food: $600
souveniers/misc expenses: $200

Total: $2850

Our food expense could have been less but we did several character meals.

What kind of car do you have? Was the $250 in gas for one way or round trip? Did you make the trip in 1 straight shot or did you stop at a hotel somewhere along the way? I want to go in August, thinking of driving, but going the other way, down the 15 into Vegas, then into So. Cal. That is a good 2 day trip just to Vegas. I mapped it going the other way, across WA to your area and then down the 5, but it seemed further for me then via Vegas. How long did it take you? Then I think about 2+ days in the car and flying looks so much better, but I don't want to pay the airfare!! :confused3

How do you get the kids fly free via Alaska Airlines? I've seen this advertised before, do you have to book through Disney or directly through Alaska Air?

I'm coming from England so not a real comparison, but:
Flights, London to LAX= $4200
Transport to hotel= $100 (Town car)
GCH theme park view room = $0, our best friends are paying for it for our anniversary present using their DVC points. I know, I have the best best friends!!
Park passes= $400
Disneyland tours/Fantasmic seating (segway and VIP)= $620
Spending money (food, gifts etc)= $1200
Total: $6520 (but this is to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and are not lightly to return for many years.)

You have to book a package to get the kids fly free with Alaska airlines. I bought mine through the AAA website but I also ran the numbers on the Alaska airlines website. I am sure other travel agents offer this as well. Good luck :goodvibes Also this deal is only good through April sometime. Also since you are flying from Spokane you may want to know that the only direct flight into the area is into LAX and the rate is cheapest. Last year we flew into SNA on this deal and paid more and had to switch planes in Seattle. We had delays in Seattle going and coming. In both cases they had to find a new plane for us because of mechanical difficulties. So this year we opted for the direct flight for less money but further from DL.

todzwife, you just have to figure out what you want to do, and start from there.

When we went in September, we went with a package through Costco, and stayed 4 nights at Paradise Pier and then 2 nights at HoJo on the entertainment book rate. We upgraded our 5 day parkhoppers from that package to APs for the year.

Our first trip was spendy, for us, and we bought several souvenirs, ate at Blue Bayou one day, and so on. On the other hand, we had a car so we stopped at the grocery store to get some treats and such, which made food a little less expensive.

For our December trip, we got 4 nights at the Anabella Hotel (totally decent hotel, loved the hardwood floors on the first floor rooms, excellent staff) for UNDER $400 through Travelocity (and I clicked through Sunshine Rewards so I got credits for that, LOL). Since our tickets were the APs that we'd upgraded to, it's hard to figure out ticket price for that.

For food and souvenirs, I decided that $100 per day would do us nicely, and I bought some gift certificates to keep me "honest", so I wasn't using my debit card all day long and confusing myself. Much easier to write $100 in the ledger per day than multiple entries. :) And we came out well under that $100 per day, took the gift cards home, and I used one to make a disneyshopping.com order the other day. :upsidedow

Trips vary from one to the next, and from family to family.

Even your November stay at an offsite hotel might vary...get too close to Thanksgiving and you'll be paying much more than further out from Thanksgiving!

Thanks, I checked it out, I actually tried for the second week of May and it is still available. Thanks for the info!! :thumbsup2
