Hi, I haven't posted on this forum in about 6 years since my last trip. However, I am DYING to take my (gong to be 5 year old DS) in September next year. Preferably with free DDP. It would be me, DH, and DS ideally for at least 9 days (with 7 park days), with free QSDP upgraded to DDP. We've previously stayed at Pop Century before and love the resort. Would you say $3500 would be a reasonable budget? I know costs have skyrocketed so I don't know if this will be possible!

So I guess my question is: how much did you spend on your last family vacation during the Aug-Sept "low crowd" season?

Play around with website to see costs right now for Aug/ Sept. Plan on no discounts because you never know what you will be able to get, they were pretty stingy with availability on discounts this fall/winter and even more so on the FD offer I *think* I saw people say. Personally I add 10% to the total to try to account for increased costs next year. That’s the number you would have to plan on paying, if it’s too high you’ll have to wait to book until discounts come out or change your plan.

Considering the price increases some people saw (rack rates they booked fall at early this year are now lower than rates with the Fall discount) you cannot judge your costs next year by what people paid this year.

Last year at the end of August we paid $2844.80, staying at the Poly for 7 nights, with 2 adult 8 day non-hopper passes. No dining plan.

Was this through an agency exclusive offer, DVC point rental, or some other special discount? By my rough estimate, you paid under $300/night, and that's not a rate I've ever seen for the Poly in a public offer (not including the "good ole days" of Disney).

My guess is that it was an agency offer. We went a couple of years ago with an agency offer and our cost was similar.

Makes sense, though an agency exclusive offer from August 2018 might not be the most useful data point when trying to help OP predict costs for September 2020.

You could go on the Disney website right now and price out a vacation that includes 8 nights at POP at rack rate and 7-day hoppers (the 2019 *free* dining offer required either hoppers or hopper plus passes). The difference in price between the QSDP and the DDP for 2020 is $23 per night per adult and $4.50 per night per child. Based on those criteria, I would put your budget just a little bit short, but not by much.

Thank you! This is very helpful! I did do this and was confused that park hoppers were automatically tacked to the package. Wow, things have changed! I'm wondering if maybe a room discount might be better for us because I know we will most likely not utilize those hoppers, especially with a kid in tow!

Ah, the good ole days of Disney. I was just thinking this morning about our trip right after Pop opened, and we got a Disney rate of $55-60 per night there, and the dining plan included appetizer AND dessert, AND TIP. :cloud9:

Yes, it was an agency offer near Labor Day. We've used the them several times, and our vacations were magical.

We stayed in Carribean Beach last year, over the Labor Day holiday. 7 day, 6 nights, family of 5, with dining plan (upgraded from QS only to 1 TS and 1 QS a day) and it was roughly $4400.

we are going in November
Me, my wife and our 5 year old son

we are staying at All Star Music Nov 12-20
we have 6 day park tickets
Magic Your Way Plus Dining
and our total was $3,849.45

you can find it if you google labor day agency exclusive magical deal

We did the above in August 2018 but did not go to WDW this year and someone told me they discontinued this great deal. Do you know if that is correct?

Wow, that seems like a lot for a value resort. I can't believe how much prices have gone up for a Disney vacation.

We were originally booked at the poly through the agency and ended up renting DVC instead as it saved us about $300. Downside is we couldn’t cancel up to 5 days before like with most other res, so now we’re stuck going during opening week of SWGE and a potential hurricane.
