How much did you pay for airfare?

We paid around $1200 USD for four return direct flights Buffalo to Orlando with Jetblue. It was $306.40 per person for late August (Aug25- Sept 4)

We had some points and flight credit left and managed to squeak out another set of four return flights Buffalo to Fort Lauderdale. Those I believe were $116 pp or so? I can't remember exactly and it's not on my confirmation. I paid maybe $100 over what our points/leftover credit covered.

As mentioned, so much is dependant on your dates, as well as when you book. I also only book non stop flights which limits your options. I live midway between Toronto and Buffalo and travel to Orlando 3-4 times a year. I've yet to fly out of Toronto, the prices are never competative. I've flown Allegiant out of Niagara Falls a few times, averaging about $180 USD return, not including bags. Great bargain (when they aren't delayed - which I found was often), Unfortunately, they have limited departure/return days, so not very practical unless you have an open calendar. I've flown JetBlue out of Buffalo, but almost exclusively fly Southwest out of Buffalo the past few years. Having said that, I just yesterday booked a return flight for October, it was a wopping $333 USD. That's a $100 higher than I paid same time last year. When you factor in the exchange I could have gotten a similar price out of Toronto, but less desirable flight times, so I stuck with Southwest. Our August flights ran about $280 USD each. JetBlue was slightly cheaper for the October flight, but once you factor in luggage, not worth the $20 difference, especially considering Southwest won't penalize you $100 (each way), if you should have to change your flight.

I'm also feeling a bit freaked out over flights... I've been tracking my preferred flights on google and every time I get an alert, it's because the price gas climbed! ... If I'd bought in December, it would have been at roughly half of what I'd pay today.

This was what worried me. I'm going on almost the exact same dates out of Buffalo (we're from Toronto) - Aug 19-Sep 2 and the flight prices between the early fall and Jan/Feb just kept climbing. I ended up booking SW on the day they opened the late Aug schedule. 5 of us are flying direct from BUF to MCO for $1770 USD which works out to $480 CAD pp not including gas and parking in Buffalo. If i had booked in the fall, I could have gotten direct flights from Pearson for about the same. Same flights though on SW are not available anymore in the lowest fare class so I'm glad I stalked the website on day 1.

We also did a March Break trip last year and did Delta return from Pearson through LaGuardia for $1060 for 5 people CAD. But then our flight got cancelled on our departure day (we were already at the airport) so ended up on a direct flight the next morning. No compensation, taxi or hotel of any kind :(. My cousin works at Delta and when I told her my sad story she said to avoid LaGuardia because they always have ground delays.

I just booked our flights down today on SW for $157, plus the $15 for early bird (don't want to worry about seating and boarding time). I'm fairly happy with that price, maybe a bit more than last year. Much better than JB, right now at least. Still waiting for a better return. Hope it shows up to Buffalo, as I've eliminated Pearson as an option. I've never found Pearson to be close to the prices in Buffalo, and I find Buffalo more convenient. Sure hope the prices drop!

We took advantage of a great seat sale last December and booked four Westjet direct flights to MCO from YYZ for late May for $1400. Not bad for a direct flight with a reasonable mid-morning departure time from YYZ.

We live in Vancouver and usually go to Disneyland. However, this past January we flew to Orlando and went to WDW for the first time. Family of 4 (2A2C) we flew from Van to Orlando with one stop in each direction, paid $1800CDN all in for the 4 of us, flew with United.

Just contributing my two cents, which is that I too feel like I should have jumped on the sub-$400 YOW-MCO I saw back in December, because my RT has been consistently sitting over $500 now. :headache:

I'm flying out of Bellingham. My mom requested that we not have to drive all the way to Seattle for the direct flight. It added a bit more to the cost but I found prices were a lot higher than in previous years. I book within weeks of the dates being released. I ended up paying $916 Canadian for two to Orlando. That is with the companion rate of $121 USD and the rest was my fare. I fly with Alaska, since I have their Credit Card and can get the companion rate.

Hmmm, we're planning on a March Break cruise next year, when should I start looking at flights? I'm in Ottawa...

Kayak is great for determining the best time to book flights. they have an algorithm that says whether you should buy now or wait.

This will likely be of very little use but we flew YYJ (Victoria, BC) to MCO Dec 9-22/15. Total cost for 3 people including one night at an airport hotel was $2,669.61
We flew out of YYJ on March 15-27,2017 for $558CAD each round trip. This was upgraded to Comfort Class on Delta. DH needs the extra leg room. If it was just me and the kid the same flight would have been $485 CAD each. Not bad for over spring break. Bought the tickets in November 2016.
