How much did you pay for a root canal?

I'm sick to my stomach, dh needs a root canal and has insurance that apparently gives him a discount on root canals , still with that we have to pay $540.
How much is a root canal these days??

Our dental plan doesn't cover root canals.

Last summer, when I needed one, I priced around....I got a low of $565 to a high of $890! Needless to say, I opted to have it pulled instead, since it was a back molar....that in turn ended up being a wisdom tooth!

I had 2 done about 8 years ago. I remember them being around $350 apiece after insurance.

DH had one last year. No insurance - $800.00.

This is making me sick, our old insurance paid for part of it but we never had to pay so much. This one does not even cover for fillings!!

Keep in mind that if you also need a crown after the root canal, you're talking an extra $900.00---that's what I was quoted!

I had one 3 years ago. I believe it was around $1100 for both the root canal and the crown. This was without insurance.

Insurance paid 50% if I remember correctly...my end was around $400 or so.

I had one about a year ago! The price was $730. The Blue Cross Blue Shield, Federal that I have paid $8 toward it. Fortunally, I have other insurance that paid the rest. Well worth being able to keep the tooth as I am on the last set of natural teeth!

A friend of mine had to have an emergency root canal done when she came up to visit me last summer. She doesn't have insurance and it ran about $800 (not including the emergency late night dentist fees ).

I just wrote the check out yesterday for $650.00. Eventually, my insurance will probably pay me 50% back, and then my FSA will pick up the rest. But, that large an amount was a toughy upfront! Sheesh!

I had one done in December. It cost 148.00 put our insurance pays 80%. The crown cost me 521.00. Altogether the root canal, post and crown will run about 1800.00
