We use our credit card (only have one, Visa) for absolutely everything and pay it off every month. We also get reward points and have taken several trips, bought a SLR digital camera, this computer, another smaller camera with points over the past 10 years. We will have to begin paying a smallish fee to belong to the rewards program starting next year but I think we will do it. We still pay nothing for the card each year.

We paid off our Eqity line of credit and just keep it sitting there for emergencies. I agree, it is stupid to keep money in the bank making next to nothing but then pay interest on a loan for something. We do have a mortgage and one car payment but only for one more year.

I probably owe a little under $10,000 in cc debt. I messed up, sad thing is this has happened to me before years ago when I was fresh out of high school. I paid off that debt after I received an inheritance from my mom, sadly this one is taking forever to pay off. I have definately learned my lesson and shame on me for letting this happen to me again! Ugh! I plan to have it down by at least by half by July, because DH and I need to buy a new car but want to wait until our debt is considerably less! All I know is I am never letting this happen again! In our defense we did have a lot of things happen to us the past couple of years, expensive things and really had no choice but to use them. My biggest mistake was spreading it around on 5 different cards, I should have just put everything on one card. It is so much easier to pay $400 on one card and watch a balance drop then to put $100 on 4 different cards and watch the balance slowly piddle down. To think of all the money wasted on interest kills me. Oh well, you live and you learn, and boy have I learned!

At this moment, we have a total of $3000 in CC debt. We paid almost all CC's off last year, had about a $200 balance. Then we had a house fire in July. For 4 months, we (myself, DH, and 2 dd's) lived with my DM, DDad, DSis, DNephew. It was stressful, and lots of family tension just from having so many people in one house at a time.So to get away, we ate out. We bought little stuff for our, paid $300 to rewash all the smoky clothes in our house, bought furnishings etc and bought some Christmas.

So in the space of 5 months, we ran up all the Cc again. And to be totally honest, it wasn't all necessities. :scared1:We also took a trip to Florida right before out house situation was resolved, as a substitute for the WDW trip that we cancelled due to the situation. :sad2:

And now we have a trip scheduled this year that is up in the air. One that is most likely going to be cancelled. Because we are once again paying off cc's, a 401K loan, a year's worth of car insurance on our vehicles, servicing said vehicles, getting yet another load of gravel for our driveway, DH needs some dental work, and putting a little back in savings. But in the process, we will be freeing up $200 a month off the stopped 401k loan, and about $125 a month on CC payments.

Honestly, we will still use the CC's occasionally. They will be put up at MIL's house, but we will use one for the security deposit for our beach trip later in the year. So we will definately "take away the temptation" but will not be cutting up cards either.

Just being honest!!!:goodvibes

We don't even have any credit cards, by choice, so no CC debt here!

I don't have credit Card debt but I'm not debt free. I have a mortagage on my home & one on the commercial building we bought. I also have a car loan.

We book our vacations a year in advance & I make payments on them until we leave.

I'm certainly not saying anyone is lying - however the high concentration of 'no debt' people on The Dis never ceases to amaze me. :cloud9:

And I have no intention of answering. My debt - My business. However, knowing I'm on The Dis, I obviously will have zero. ;)

The poll didn't ask if we had any debt, it asked if we had credit card debt. I certainly am not debt free, I am however, credit card debt free.

I think you should add another choice like "over 25,000".

DH and I have more cc debt than I'd like. He's been out of work for almost 2 years now, and we've experienced quite a few unexpected expenses (new sewer line, car accident, illness). that have left us with no other choice.

I think credit card "debt" and credit card "balance" are 2 different things. We carry a balance on 2 cards, but they both have 0% interest right now, so there is no great incentive to pay them off in full until the promotional interest is coming to an end. We have the $$ to pay the 2 cards off, but at 0% what's the point?

We have our new furniture set on a CC. We're paying $100 a month and it will be paid off by September. Could I pay the balance now? Yup, I have the money. Am I going to pay the balance off now? Nope. Don't want to. The interest on my CC is not bad at all so I'd rather have my cash right now.

Ironically all our trips we put on a CC get paid off the second we get the bill. :teeth:

I said CC free but I do have debt. I'm two payments away from finishing my student loan (grad school which is where all my CC debt came from as well:rotfl:)

Then I will be totally debt free.....till this summer when I replace my 11 year old car.:rotfl2:

The Army has a slogan - "Be All You Can Be".
The DIS can have a slogan too - "Be Whatever You Want To Be".

I have a little over a $1,000 in credit card debt. I will probably have it paid it off by at least August or September.
