I started Atkins today, and I was under the impression that I could have as much of the non-processed cheeses that I wanted, but after going over the rules of induction again, I noticed that it said only 3 to 4 ounces of cheese per day while on induction. That doesn't seem like very much. What did most of you do??

You are allowed 3-4 ounces of cheese. I didn't eat cheese everyday but my husband did. I just used a food scale and sliced the cheese thin and put it in snack size bags.

Cheese contains close to one gram of carbs per ounce. That is why your cheese is limited.

I like using cheese that I can shred. I just buy a "block" of it and shred it myself...it last longer and it seemed to go further in my salads and lettuce wraps. It is more psychological than anything but 1oz of shredded cheese seems to be "more" than a regular hunk!!

Thanks for the replies. Does the 3 to 4 ounces also apply to bleu cheese dressing? I can eat a lot of that as a dip and on salads, but I think that would cause me to exceed that amount. The bottle of dressing says 0 carbs.

I appreciate your help!

Two tablespoons of dressing is all you are allowed...the carbs are higher than the cheese, count them extra.

Just an "FYI", Muenster cheese slices only contain .3 carbs per slice, according to Atkins carb counter and FitDay.com. I usually eat 4-5 slices per day, I use it as bread and put my lunchmeat etc inside.
