I'm trying to figure out how much cash, excluding the normal tips, I should have on hand for our trip. We always charge whatever we can, so I'm at a loss as to how much I should have with me. Does guest services cash traveler's checks?

Oh, I guess I should tell you it will be 2 adults in our party.

Two weeks to go! I hope it goes by fast.

Thanks for your help!

Hmmm...

I would suggest $76,204.39. ;)

I think it really depends on what things you plan on spending money on. We've take four cruises and have spent various amounts. I think the least we've spent (not counting tips) on a 7 day would probably be about $600. The upper end would probably run around $1000. This doesn't include any onboard credits.

Some things will run up a tab very quickly. For instance, spa treatments and BINGO, if allowed to go unchecked, have been know to "sneak up" on people! :)

Since many of the prices are known and posted on the board, you may be able to estimate what you'll spend on various activites prior to boarding. This might help you determine how much you'll end up needing to take.

Hope you enjoy your cruise!

[Sorry, I misread your question! Please dismiss my post! ]

I'll be on that cruise also!! We usually bring around $300 in cash. You will need money for taxi's etc at the different stops. Depending on what you do. I like to give cash for tips on the ship, so we bring enough for that also. I don't think guest services will cash a check, but I'm not sure on that one. I'm sure someone on here knows for sure. It doesn't hurt to bring a little extra just in case. You can always keep it in your safe. See you in two weeks!!:bounce:

Yes, Guest services does cash traveller's checks.

Hi - I'm on the same cruise with you on 2/28!!! This was a great question; I just bought my traveller's cheques today, but hadn't considered how much "cash" I needed to bring.

I'm not sure if you signed up in the "Cruise Meets" forum for our cruise, but did you know we're having a "DISMeet" in the Promenade Lounge Sunday morning at 10:00 am??? Drop by if you can - I'm looking forward to putting faces to all the online names! :wave2:

$76K!!! I must admit, that wasn't one of the numbers I had in mind. :)

I haven't signed up for the cruise meets forum. I guess you can call me a "lurker". I'm still trying to figure out how all this stuff works!

Thanks for the info everyone! Hope to see you all on the cruise!

3 of us (2 adults+1 child) went on the 7 day eastern and we racked up $900 on our bill not counting tips. We also spent about $150 cash on taxis and island souvaniers(sp?) and such. The $900 is not including any spa treatments which can get really expensive. We also only played bingo once. Hope this helps.:D

Guest services will also cash a personal check, one per stateroom per cruise, max amount $100. Good in a pinch....

We spent a fortune (I thought) on our last 7 day cruise. The things that added up quickly, were the pictures I purchased. We did spa treatments, drinks, lots of sourvenirs (pins) and Treasure Ketch was having a great sale on some Tommy Bahamma clothes that i had to have. Anyway, we spent about 1,200 on board. I promised hubby that I wouldn't spend that much next go round in order to convince him to cruise again.

OH MY GOSH!!!!! I AM SO CRUISE NIAVE!!! I thought all you needed to do was pay for the cruise and it was a go! I know food is covered by the ship- but what else do you spend money on? Where on the board is the info on that ?? Please? Oh my.............. I think I'm gonna be in BIG trouble! I thought I'd be secluded from spending any extra $$$ if I was on a ship! HA!!! Oh my, my, my........ the inner spender in me is coming alive~! I'm SOOOOOOO EXCITED! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

The drinks add up! And then there is the spa and any goodies you want from the gift shope or Castaway Cay and don't forget BINGO!! Getting that bill at the end hurts sometimes, but it is sooooooo worth it! :) I promise my hubby every time that I won't over spend but I always do! I'm going to try and be good this time. (hee hee)

The pictures at Shutters can add up also. I told my husband on our next cruise I am not going in there. It is going to be his job to go in and pick out 2 or 3 of the best photos. I have a really hard time passing up any pictures of my dd6.
