Staying on-site for 8 nights and will be on qsdp.

I figured to have $40 cash/day in any case. Will be charging all our purchases on cc to get points or to the room. Is this a reasonable amount? It is basically a "just in case" back-up money.:confused3:confused3

I take enough so that I have $20 per day. I never use even close to that much. This summer I used about $30 of it over 10 days.

I've carried none... don't have to...credit card on room charge... room card worked before and Magic Band worked for last 3 trips...again K.I.S.S...keep it simple stupid...

We also charge most everything to our room so we don't have a per day amount in cash either. You may have already taken this into account but i would at least bring a little cash on the trip for two things: Tipping housekeeping (which i forget everytime and then i have to pay ATM fees in the lobby to take out! lol) and also if you have any interest in the pressed pennies or quarters - its nice to have cash on hand for that

There are a few places you have to use cash. Not many, but a few. The silhouette and caricature artists, some of the drink carts, and tipping at the Harmony Barber Shop come to mind.

None of those have any interest for us, and after all our trips, and most past 5 year trips... nothing we required or done needed cash...Disney makes it so simple to provide coverage thru your room key or now Magic Bands that we carry nothing..

Thanks all. A separate amount has been allocated for housekeeping already. We'll bring $300 to be safe but will definitely use charge to room as much as we can to avoid numerous international credit card fee.

also, don't forget tipping for bell services.
DME includes the gratuity for luggage transferred from flights - but not items delivered to resort - e.g., our Owner's Locker :), nor luggage transfer upon departure.
in addition, we bring tips for the attendant when we pick up/drop off our rental car, and valet.
we usually take about $250-300 in cash, for 2 people, 11-14 days.

Don't know if this is applicable to you, but every trip (Disney and everywhere else) I set aside a certain amount of cash for the cab home from the airport at the end of the trip. The cabs in my city are supposed to take credit but sometimes the machine is broken, and my airport doesn't have an atm for my bank so I'd have to pay a fee. Standing in line for the atm and being cranky about atm fees is not the best way to end a trip!

I bring cash to tip the housekeeper, the airport shuttle driver, the Alamo courtesy driver for our trip to and from the Disney Car Car Center, bellman and for the carts that don't take cards. Everything else gets charged to the room. Normally I take 300 but haven't used that much.

I was asking my husband the same question last night. We are going for 8 days and plan to charge everything to the room. We also said we would bring a small amount for odds and ends.

We only used about $20 a day...that was used to buy bottles of water or cotton candy (we did not want to waste snack credits on things like that).

I always have my mousekeeping envelopes with cash inside made up before we leave home. We travel in a group and I always have them for each room in our reservation and once checked in give them to DD and DIL so they don't have to worry about it. It works out great!
