I know most places take credit cards. What would I need cash for? Ice cream carts or popcorn? Just trying to plan.

Thanks so much!

5 days!!!!!!

I'd say 95% of the carts take credit/debit/gift cards. I typically bring about 60 in cash, maybe use half of it. I also want to be able to leave some tips for bell services/house cleaning as well.

Almost all places accept credit/gift cards at this point. That being said, the balloon sellers and penny press machines are still cash only. There might be others, but those are the ones I know of. I would bring enough cash with me to cover one full day's worth of meals. My feeling is that you should always prepare for the case where the credit card machines are not working and/or there are issues with your credit card. It doesn't happen often, but I have been there when the credit card machine was down at an ice cream stand so they were cash only until it could be fixed.

I usually have about $100 in cash for DS and myself, with a lot of it in smaller bills for tips or for spending money for DS. I give him a set amount each day of the trip, and he can choose to spend it on whatever he wants (treats or toys or whatever) or save it each day to spend it all at the end of the week. I hang onto it so he doesn't lose it, but every morning we count it out into his envelope and talk about how much he has left. When he was a preschooler, I just gave him $5/day, but this year he's working on doing extra chores each week so he can get up to $10/day.
