How much cash do you pros recommend taking along? I'll have cruise tips and excursions already set aside. I'm talking about for things that you can't use the ships room key or for getting off the boat at the different ports. We will be on the 7 night western. Thanks for your help! :wave:

Not counting cash for tips I took $700 for 4 . Ended up spending $130 for Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner in airports on the way there and breakfast at the hotel on the morning of the cruise.
Spent $100 for drinks and gifts in St. Thomas, and another $100 in St Martin, and of course everything but postage on Castaway Cay was charged to the room, about $2 spent there.
Another $75 for lunch and dinner at airports on the way home, and $80 for parking my car at my home airport, and $200 to bail the cat out of the kennal (excuse me, the cat resort) So if my math is right I ended up spending $687 in cash, so I figured it pretty close to what I planning on spending.

Thanks, tvguy! That let's me know that I have probably budgeted plenty. I was thinking about $1000 extra not including tips and booking excursions. It will be just the two of us. We will drive down and stay at the Radisson at the port the night before. I know what you mean about the cat resort. We always have to make a reservation for the doggie hotel!

I think it would really depend on what you were planning on doing while on shore. If you are just looking to go somewhere to eat, buy a few souviners & maybe have a few drinks you are definitely OK with the money you are planning on bringing (and then some). Especially for just 2 of you.

My DW takes the shopping money, which normally isn't too much.

I always make sure I take the following cash;
1 - $100 Bill for parking
2 - $20 Bills for Baggage (On/Off)
30 - $1 Bills for Room Service Tips

I would recommend that you take travelers checks instead of just all cash. There are so many evil, wicked, mean, and nasty people in the world today. You can cash the travelers checks at guest services onboard to have spending cash while in port. It just seems safer to me this way.

Kycruisinsusan--I always travel with travelers checks. Not only do I feel safer with the money but it keeps me on budget.
