I really dislike the taste of alcohol so I'm hoping it isn't too obvious! I know it's starred as containing alcohol on the menu, but can anyone provide more information as to which type and how noticeable it is?

Thanks!

I didn't notice it at all, but truth be told JMHO I am a chocoholic and I did not like the Wave, it was just waaaaay to rich to eat more than 2 bites. Even DH who eats ANYTHING with sugar in it could not finish it.:confused3

Not at all - didn't even know it was alcoholic!

One of my all time favs!!! No you cannot (at least I can't) taste anything but chocolate. YUMMY!!

Enjoy The Magic!!

I didn't know it had alcohol either.... you wouldn't know by eating it. it's really an outstanding dessert !! :thumbsup2

Only the cherries on top are "alcholic" as they are brandied cherries. They were crazy strong but I don't like cherries anyway. The cake itself does not have alcohol in it. It was OK but not what I was expecting.

I had it a couple of weeks ago and the cherries were not included this time. I love them. But we also like the Bailey's mousse too, which the bottom layer is strong, also has alcohol in it. Yummy for both!

When we have had it, the cherries are the only thing that taste like alcohol!:confused3 But, they were good!:rotfl:

Am I losing my mind or didn't the chocolate wave use to contain Grand Marnier? Has that changed?

For the PP, the chocolate wave is at Coral Reef.

I didn't taste any alcohol at all in the chocolate part of the dessert, just in the cherries on the side (and I strongly dislike the taste of liquor in dessert, so I would have noticed!)

This might be a stupid question, but do you have to be 21 to order the chocolate wave?:confused3

Probably. They would just give it to you w/o the cherries if you were under 21

For what it's worth, I didn't cherries either........ thought it was okay.... the chocolate wave from a few years back was MUCH better

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Sorry, but I just had this visual of alcohol control carting off a bunch of minors from WDW for ordering desserts made with booze. :lmao:

The answer is no ... they don't care how old you are when you order this or any other dessert that utilizes alcohol. The alcohol used is so minimal ... essentially to add a layer of flavor ... that it's usually not noticeable and certainly does not constitute underage drinking.

No, you do not have to be 21 to order a dessert containing alcohol in a restaurant. Same with soups that contain alcohol like brandy in lobster bisque. The alcohol content is really cooked away and all that remains is the taste.

I have tasted the choc wave (last May) and I don't think I tasted any alcohol in it whatsoever. My son ordered it liked it.

It's been a couple of years since I had it, but I recall an "off" taste that I blamed on the alcohol. I very much dislike the flavor of alcohol in my food and said that I'd never order it again.

Here is a pic of our chocolate wave from 2007. Again, only the cherries had alcohol

I've had both versions of the Wave. In 2008 I had the cherry version, it was to die for so much that I made ADRs for our 2009 trip just to taste this wonderful creation again. Much to my dismay, they had changed it to the non-alcoholic version without cherries. It just wasn't the same.:sad2:

I agree with you. Neither my DH nor I drink & we both could taste the alcohol in this dessert. We really didn't care for the wave & we both love chocolate cake.
