I know it is a tough quetion to answer, that all kids are different, etc..., but I was wondering if anyone knew how many inches their kids grew in a year, at these ages:

from 2 - 3
from 3 - 4
from 5 - 6

I'm trying to predict how tall my kids will be for our next trip. They are close to some height requirements and I'm trying to get a sense for what rides we can plan on going on. If you know how much your chil(ren) grew (and whether they are boys or girls - in case that makes a difference), please post. I realize I am probably being too silly for even trying, but it's driving me a little crazy that I don't know which rides we can do -- so a few stastics might give me some idea of what to expect -- And of course I'm a huge planner or I wouldn't be a DIS'er, right!

Thanks for any feedback you can give!

well- my DD is 3 will be 4 she was 40 inches in feb when measured-

she is almost 42 now, just need her to grow 2 more inches by dec so she can ride test track lol

My DD is 95th percentile for height. At 3 she was 37 inches, at 4 she was 42, now at 4 1/2 she is close to 44. I'm guessing she is at the tail end of this growth spurt - she went from wearing a 4T at Christmas to wearing a 6 slim now - less than 6 months!

Thanks for the reply. Actually, I started searching the internet and here's what I found on different sites:

Children ages 3 - 5 will average 2" - 3.5" a year

Children ages 2 - 6 will average 2.5" a year

Children ages 2 - 5 will average 2.5" a year

Children ages 12 - 36 months will average .3 - .4" a month (3.6 - 4.8 inches a year)

My kids are shorties. I'm goign to guess 2 " a year and see where that puts us.

Thanks again. Maybe your DD will make test track!

Hope this info helps other uber-planners!

Gotta love those growth spurts. I just bought my DD a bunch of T-shirts size 5 -6 for this season, and after a few wears, she's ready for size 7! (THe one good thing is she has a younger sister who will wear the hand-me -downs so it wasn't a total waste, but what was meant ot be her spring & summer wardrobe turned out only be her spring wardrobe! LOL)

Once you hit the magic 44", I think she can ride anything, right!?

Enjoy!

It will take forever before my little ones can ride the big rides...ha! They are almost 3 and about 33 inches!! Talk about short stuffs Ha! They still wear a 2t in clothes.

RNRC and Primeval Whirl are 48". That limit is also on several of the slides at the water parks, and on a couple of attractions at DQ.

DS just turned 7, and just hit 48"; it has taken him over a year to grow that last 1.5 inches. He was tall enough to do the 40" rides at 28 months old, and the 44" inch rides by the time he was 3 1/2. They tend to slow down once they hit age 5, with occasional spurts.

I would think it varies quite a bit based on the child.

My dd grew 9 1/2 inches already this past 10 months but being a baby is different. I'm trying to gage her height by next May and the one after to see what she might be tall enough for. We are planning May 2006 but if we get money sooner it will be next May.

She is 29 inches now. :) Grow baby grow. LOL

Just fyi test track is a 40" requirement so you are all set!

For more height requirments, just go to the homepage here, check out theme parks and find the height requirement section. It will list all the rides your child is tall enough to enjoy.

DD10-1/2 just passed the 48" mark this year - our last trip, when she was 8, she was just barely able to make the 44" height requirements. She still wears a size 6X/7, and I swear she has the same clothes on for pictures at WDW when she was 5, and 8, and could still wear that stuff now! She's in the 10% for height and 5% for weight.

We just realized the other day at a doctor's appointment that DD13 has grown over 8 inches in less than 3 years  I think she's going to be taller than me (I'm only 5'3") as her shoe size equals mine already, and she's only an inch or so shorter than me right now...

But back to the OP question - if I were you, I'd ask the pediatrician for a printout, or some copy, of your kids' growth charts. They can predict, to a point at least, an estimate of your child's growth over a certain period.

Our 2 yr old son was 37.5" at his 2 yr checkup. Hes also wearing 4t-5t already shirts (hes not fat, just really tall for his age). Hes always been big-he weighed in at 12 lbs 2 oz and 22.5" at birth!

alison:eek:
