How many years worth of points can you use?

I remember reading once that you could only use 3 years worth of points for one reservation. Banked points, current points and borrowed points. I cannot find that reference again. Does this rule still stand? Is it possible to use current points and borrow from the 2 following years?

You are correct in your first sentence. You can bank, use current year and borrow the following year. For example, you have 100 points. You can bank your 100 2006 pts into 2007, use your 100 2007 points plus borrow from your 2008 points and have a total of 300 points to use on a vacation in 2007. You just need to make sure you use the banked points before they expire.

Members are allowed to borrow only from the year following the Use Year current for the reservation you wish to make. If you have points transferred from another member you could use more than 3 years worth of points for a reservation. Also - if you have a trip that straddles 2 Use Years, you could actually use points from 4 Use Years - but that is an extreme example and not applicable for most reservations.

Let's say that you have a February Use Year and have already banked your 2006 points. If you want a stay that begins in January, 2008 and extends into February, 2008 - you could use the banked points from 2006, the current points for 2007 and borrowed points from 2008 for the portion of the stay that falls in January, 2008 and then you could still borrow from the 2009 Use Year for the portion that falls in February, 2008. Thus you would have banked points from 2006, current points from 2007, and borrowed points from 2008 and 2009. (The 2006 banked points could NOT be used for the stay during February, 2008 and the points borrowed from 2009 could only be used for the portion if the stay in February 2008.)

A little complicated and little confusing, but it can be done.
