How many & what type of shoe do you bring to Disney?

I'm a nurse and on my feet all day. I buy a new pair of New Balance 336 shoes every 2-3 months. When I go to WDW I take my prior two pairs of 336 shoes, as they are broken in and still look good. I also take a pair of water shoes for the water parks and a pair of black leather shoes that are well broken in for dressier nights. No blisters, ever. Bottom line for me is that I don't ever try new shoes on a WDW trip. Ever.

I bring two pairs of sneakers and alternate them every other day so I don't get blisters. No need for dressier shoes because we don't really go anywhere fancy at night--all worn out from walking around at the parks all day!

Hi,

We bring a pair of sandals, I like my Nike ACGs, and a pair of good sneakers.

I always wear sneakers to the parks and bring sandles or dress shoes for going out at night...my hubby only wears his Rockports and brings his Tevas but the Rocs always cause such a huge commotion @ the airport with the metal detector...lol

one pair Reebok running shoes, lightly worn-in
one pair sandals
one pair rubber slippers (flip flops)

If there are outlets nearby, I usually buy another new pair of Reeboks but I never wear them until I get home.

lulu71 or anyone else who only wears Tevas..............We are going Dec 8 thru Dec 13 and would love to just wear my Tevas, it is all I wear walking around WDW ( maybe something else for dinner or pool but for actually walking anywhere it is Tevas). Did you actually wear socks with them when it got cold? I am thinking the little tootsies will freeze at the CP if it is at all chilly!!

Okay, I have probably a dumb question...but here goes anyway. I have a pair of Tevas that I love. I've had them for about 2 years (maybe 3?) and wear them off and on during the warmer months. (Okay, I'm not much of a shoe person) Do these shoes break-down in support like a tennis shoe does?

I've read about so many people using these as their main walking shoe in the parks, but I've always been afraid to because I've had them for so long. How old are your Tevas that you guys are walking in? Are you buying a new pair every year, or what?

Roserae, My Tevas are 1.5 years old and still feel great. They're broken in to my feet now! I don't know when I'll ever replace them.

OK, thanks for everyone's answers. I'll bring both my sneakers and Tevas and wear the Landsends. Then I can alternate between all of them depending on the weather.

Thanks!

Karen

When I went last week I brought 2 pairs of sandals (one pair is nicer) and a pair of sneakers. Only wore the sneakers on the plane.

When I went in Feb (which will be the case when I go this Dec and Jan) I only brought a pair of sneakers and my Nike Straprunners. I wore the NS every morning and switched to sneakers sometimes later in the day if we were going to be out in the evening.

I've never had a blister!

Last week I brought 4 pairs of flip flops (2 Teva brand, 2 Old Navy) and one pair of sneakers.

I realized that I REALLY need to invest in a pair of Tevas (or find my old ones) as when my flip flops got SOAKED on rides, it was impossible to walk in them.

When we go in December, I'll probably bring a pair or two of 'nice' shoes as we've got some nice PS's planned.

No one has mentioned Clarks. I only buy Clarks (all year round). They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. Usually when I go to Disney, I bring 2-3 pairs of Clark sandals.

I'm not lulu71, but will answer your question for me anyways. Yes, when it's cold (like last December when I was at the CP), I wore my sandals/Tevas with socks. DS was shocked, kept reminding me how "inappropriate" it was. I'm sure he would volunteer me for the Bad Shoes website, but at least my tootsies were warm and comfortable.

I bring a pair of Birkenstocks and a pair of Keens. I wear the Keens when I think I may be getting wet and the Birks the other times. My Birks work with shorts, jeans, capri's and even casual dresses. For those who don't know, Keens are kind of like Tevas, but I think a lot better. They are extremely comfortable and waterproof. You can find them at Zappos.com

I bring my trusty Reebok tennies and my Teva style sandals. I swap those out every other day. I also have water shoes for the water parks, and a pair of slippers for around the hotel room.

I'm taking my New Balance Walking shoes (with the pink ribbon) and a pair of flip flops to wear to the pool.

My family laughs at me because I take a separate bag just for my shoes. I never know which ones I'll want to wear...oh, and I love shoes! It's not unusual for me to take 10 pairs of shoes for a 5-6 day trip.:earseek:

It all depends on my mood each day.

We have a pair of newer but broken in tennis shoes and a pair of Tevas for each of us.

To answer an earlier - Tevas will break down and loose their support over time.

We visit amusement parks all spring - fall (about 20 - 30 days per year). We wear the Tevas about 1/3 of the time (any major chance of rain or very wet rides). We also use the Tevas for pool trips (DD swims year-round). We replace our Tevas every 2 years or so.
DD has out grown all of hers - Probably 13 - 16 different pairs by now(she had her first pair at 6 months old! - how I wish I had kept those).

I love Eccos and have had a few pairs. Now here where I live we can't get them, so I just today went out and bought a pair of Scholls sandles. They look alot like my old Eccos, just hope they are as comfortable! Those will be for touring the parks!
Best hurry and break them in :Pinkbounc ::yes:: :Pinkbounc !

depending on the time of year, i usually take 3 pairs of shoes. 2 walking shoes and 1 pair of hiking boots. yes, hiking boots. they are great in december; waterproof and warm. if we have a nicer meal plan--california grill or jiko or artist point--then i will take a pair of nice casual shoes. plus, we always take twice as many pairs of socks as days we are there. there is nothing worse than wet socks!! UGH!!!

In warmer months, I just bring Tevas & a pair of black Mickey Slides. If we have nice PS plans, I will bring a low heeled slide that can be worn with several outfits.

If it is cooler, I will wear a pair of sneakers down, pack my Tevas & slides.

I just bought a couple pairs of Clarks - they are sooo comfy. This coming trip will be Teva's & Clarks.

My Tevas are probably 5 years old & feel just as supportive as the day I bought them. It probably is time for a new pair, but they seem perfect to me.
