How many "what-if" medications to pack?

You may feel like you were "just asking" but your initial response made it sound like people who packed these medications were somehow over doing it. You have been lucky to avoid a bad situation, but for many parents out there that have had to deal with a crazy, middle of the night, in the middle of nowhere situation involving your family, it is always better to be prepared. I believe the OP was reaching out to get a feel for what they may need and people were responding. You could have simply provided insight as to what you pack without the negative commentary. Have a Disney day!

I DID provide an answer and also asked a question why all the additional medication was needed curious if I maybe needed to bring more and stated that to date I have not needed it. I did not provide the negative commentary the person that responded to me did and now you. ughhhhhhhh Good bye I am done with this thread.

:confused3

Anyway, I bring allergy meds, advil, sudafed, and melatonin/sleep aid. It fits in one of those small plastic pill containers. I like to have the things I might need easily accessible. Especially if I am in another country and don't have access to my usual options.

I was struggling with this as well. Here's what I settled on. For the kids I'm bringing Ibuprofen and Pepto as well as vitamins. For myself and my husband I am bringing Advil, Immodium, Tums, Zyrtec and Vitamins as well as my prescriptions. And then I got Dramamine for everyone just in case and ginger candies for nausea. I'm also bringing a mini first aid kit. I don't know if that's overboard or not but I like to be prepared and would rather not pay for overpriced meds on the trip. But those are the things we use the most at home and if there's anything else then I figured we will be able to get it.

This is the standard med kit we always bring along when travelling:

- Bandages (assorted)
- Neosporin
- Ibuprofen (kids)
- Tylenol (kids)
- Ibuprofen (adult)
- Benadryl (kids)
- Benadryl (adult)
- Zyrtec (kids)
- Zyrtec (adult)
- Omeprazole
- Pepto
- Z-Pak
- Sawyer mini water filter
- N95 masks
- Clorox Healthcare wipes (hydrogen peroxide)
- Nitrile gloves (2-4 pairs)

The above all packs into a med kit that is roughly the size of a standard bible. Very easy to toss into our luggage, and it is better to be somewhat prepared than to have to scramble during a trip.
This sounds like a great set up to have ready to go. Some of these items I never even thought of having handy, but it sure would be nice to have, even if just in the car when on road trips.

I pretty much do the whole medicine cabinet:
advil
tylonol pm
sleep aid
benadryl
day/night colds meds
dramamine/sea bands/patch/meclazine
tums
pepto tabs
cough drops
pink eye drops
swimmers ear drops
nose spray
ear plugs (for sleeping)
allergy meds (zyrtec)

I prefer to just have everything on hand and not have to find what I need and I don't want to spend a ton.

This is a great list - never thought of pink eye drops - isn't that prescription?

I would also add - Blister stuff. I bring a ton of foot care (had terrible blisters once at WDW - never again) - also this year for the Med Cruise (very hot) I used a body thing called "Her" for thigh chafing - it was the best thing ever - no issues in that area at all ;)

I would just expect a call/visit from or escort to the medical center if you walk around in a mask.

Yes it's prescription but our pediatrician calls it in and gives refills, they don't want a kid with pink eye in the office. My daughter has an eye condition that we use the drops for sometimes so we always take it with us along with her other eye meds, but for us that's like taking my prescription migraine meds that I rarely need. Her ophthalmologist puts several refills on it. If we didn't have it we would be guaranteed to need it.
