I have never purchased this type of voucher so I need some help. It is me, my DH, 2 DD and a DS. Kids are 6,8,and 10. Only my DS is a good eater. How many vouchers should I get? I think it would be a waste to get 2 adult and 3 child. Also, what is the deal with "upgrading" your steak or something like that I have read here? Also, are these the kingdom vouchers and what do they cost? Thanks for the help!

Yes, you would need the VKLs for lunch at the RFC. The cost at Hotwire is $31 per adult voucher and $12.75 per child's voucher.

Each voucher entitles you to an appetizer, entrée, sidedish, beverage and dessert. The children are supposed to order their meals from the child's menu. Some people have reported that their children were able to order from the adult menu but do not count on it.

Check these links for the RFC menus. By looking at them, you should be able to get a better idea of how many vouchers to order. Portions at the RFC are pretty generous.

Allears.net - RFC Adult Menu
Allears.net - RFC Child's Menu

If you look at the "Beef, Pork & Chicken" section of the adult menu, you'll see that you can "enhance your meal with an add-on: Crab Cake $6.99; 4 Coconut Shrimp $6.99; 1/2 pound King Crab $12.99; 4 Shrimp Enbrochette $8.99". Those "addons" cost you nothing extra when using the VKLs. You can order the $23 steak and add the ½ lb of King Crab for no extra cost.

We are using 2 adult vouchers for 2 adults and 4 kids. My 3 girls are sharing 2 appetizers(quesidias, and wings) and then sharing 2 deserts or the sparkling volcano. My DS is using the other app(wings), and a desert, and DH and I will each get an entree. I will pay extra for additional drinks. Last year the server talked me into the crab stuffed lobster and I hated it. They like add ons because it increases your bill total which increases their tip.

We had two adults and two children (ages 8 & 12 at the time) and used two adult vouchers. We all shared the appetizers, some of the main meal and the desserts. We also ordered one other item I beleive, but did not feel we would ahve needed another voucher as the amount of food was great. We combined the two Adult vouchers to get the large sampler appetizer and the volcano dessert.

If I were you I would try 1 adult and 1 or 2 kid vouchers. With 2 vouchers you will get 2 appetizers, 2 meals and either 1 or 2 desserts depending on which one you want. I would check out the menu's and see what your kids will eat and what combo works out.
When my family of 6 ate there we had 2 adult vouchers and 1 childs voucher. This was in Oct and my boys were 16, 13, 3 and 18 months. We ate 1 volocano and sent our extra dessert to a family at another table.

Just need to clarify the following questions:

1. Does the kids voucher get an appetizer and is it from the adult menu?

2. Are there any sides for kids but french fries? (Maybe applesauce or jello or a lettuce salad?)

3. Can an adult order cafe au'lait?

4. Any suggestions for keeping leftovers cold? Or am I just going to have to eat right before leaving AK????

And.....

For an adult voucher I could order (please correct me if I am wrong).....

Tsunami Shrimp Cocktail $8.99
Paradise House Salad $3.99 (w/meal)
Mogambo Shrimp $17.99
Bananas Foster $6.99
Coffee $2.25

Total $40.21
Tax $ 2.81
Tip $ 6.03

Total $49.05

Am I missing anything there or does that about cover it? DD & I could share and then order an extra soda.

I'm still thinking we might be better off with a steak and DD & I split it. But she likes Alfredo sauce too....

I'm not familiar with these vouchers. Can I buy them at this price and use them for a dinner? Where do I order them?? Do they include tax and tip? sorry for the questions-29 days to go!!!!

Jgates scratch the salad. You can have an app-shrimp, main meal, desert and drink.

dpratt- they do include tax and tip and I believe they are sold through connections or hotwire.

Sorry about being off topic--I'm trying to get in touch with dpratt.

********** dpratt--please check your PM--I have a question for you--TIA ***************

I'm thinking about using some of these vouchers on our unexpected trip next month too! Thanks for all of the info!

I've got a question about using a voucher and gift cerificates at the same time. I was planning on using 2 vouchers for dh and I and then paying for the extras for 2 dds with a gift certificate. I got a test drive though for a $50.00 supercertificate than I am planning on cashing in for RFC gift certificates. So if I buy one meal and the girls meal with the gift certificates, can I get an appetizer that all of us can eat with the voucher? I hope this makes sense. Thanks for your help, April:Pinkbounc

I'm trying to figure out if I want to do the same thing. I have 2-$25 GC from My points and there will be 4 of us. Two adults and two 18yr olds. I'm trying to figure out if I should get one voucher, use that for appetizer teens would share, Steak for husband, add=on shirmp for me. Banana Foster for desert for teens.
Then use the GC for probably pizza or buger for teens, pot roast or chicken for me and drinks. That should be about $50.
Do you think I should ask for seperate checks?

Sarasmom85,

I would say "no". The easiest thing to do would be to ask your server. I plan on using both GCs (from Mypoints) and vouchers as well.

That would work. just tell your server what you want on the coupon and what you are paying for. It might be easier to do separate checks. Actually when we went I had $50 in certs too but it was a much better deal to use the vouchers so we used 2 aduld and 1 childs voucher for all 6 of us. Even with 4 boys (2 teens at that (we had plenty of food). It just seems to me you get a much better value with the vouchers. We saved our certs for when we were home and went to one of our RFC.

I was curious about this with the kids voucher too. Also, can an adult voucher and kids voucher be put together to get the Volcano?

When we went they told us to order off the adult menu with the kids voucher if we wanted to--so of course we did. And yes you can combine an adult voucher and childs voucher for the volcano.

I usually order Rasta Pasta at RFC. If I go with my 4 y.o. son, I could order:

Appetizer : Caribe Chicken
Side Dish: Side salad
Main Dish: Rasta Pasta
Desert: Diablo Cake
Drink: Sprite

Is that correct? Since Rasta Pasta does not have anything served with it (well, bread but I would hope they did not consider that an official "side") And then I could pay for fries and a drink outside the voucher for my son? Do I have to specifically tell them what I am getting with the voucher?

I realize there are more expensive things i can order to get a better deal but just trying to see if I am "getting it"

Can you use the mypoints gc's in the store part? Get the kids a couple of tshirts etc? They had a huge gift shop area the last time we were there.
