How many vacations do you take a year (not just to Disney)?

We always take two a year. One for a week to visit my sister and her family in NH and we spend a couple days at Cedar Point (an amusement park in Ohio). This year we're foregoing Cedat Point because w're saving our money for WDW. This also doesn't include at least 6-10 little day trips.

We love to travel and take a lot of trips. I'm glad to see some others who do too because I don't know anyone who travels as much as we do. Usually it's one big trip, a beach vacation, and WDW every other year lately. This is year it will be (or was)

May San Diego/Disneyland
June Williamsburg, VA
July Myrtle Beach
August WDW (added to see the Wiggles)
December WDW

This year it will be 3+

Feb. our flroida vacation home 17 days
Aug. cabin in NH 4 days
Sept./Oct. our florida vacation home 11 days

I normally take at least six trips a year....I love to travel!

Not enough! When we didn't have kids we would go once a year usually out of the country. NOw its been 4 years since our last real vacation. I think its long overdue - so I am extra excited - our first trip with 3 kids should be exciting - and exhausting!!!

We are not the norm, so don't base anything on us! We usually take between 12-20 trips a year! My parents own 3 timeshares (one in VA, one in FL, and one in Vegas) and we own a travel trailer (Zepplin II). Here is what we have done and what we have planned. Usaully all the trips fall on Fri-Mon

Jan- 4 day trip to Vegas (timeshare) with the folks
Feb- 3 day trip to Albany to visit in-laws
Mar-3 day trip to Pittsburgh for St. Patty's day parade and some heavy drinking!
Apr- 5 day trip to Mass. to visit friends
May- 4 day trip to Washington, DC
June- 5 day trip to Massanutten resort (timeshare)
3 day trip to Raystown Lake
July- 5 day trip to Ocean City, NJ
3 day trip to Raystown Lake
Aug- 3 day trip back to Pittsburgh for Regatta
3 day trip to Ocean City, MD
Sept- 4 day trip to Niagara Falls, ON
3 day trip to Raystown Lake
Oct- 4 day trip to Bar Harbour, Maine
Nov- 12 day trip to WDW for DD's birthday
Dec- 3 day trip to NYC for Radio City Rockettes!

My DH gets 60 days vacation a year and I get 30. We really take advantage of it and love to travel!

We don't have kids yet, so I don't know how this will change after we do. However at the moment we tend to go on between 4 and 5 vacations a year with one of them being the big vacation of the year.

For instance this year we've done New Years in NYC (technically this could fit in last years vacation as well since it was December 29th - January 1st) where we saw two Broadway plays and watched Times Square from our hotel room window (it was cold and rainy out there and since we could see down the block fine from the hotel room, why go out in it).

Atlanta in March for 4 days to see the new Aquarium down there (stayed with my parents).

New York in June for 3 days for my cousin's wedding.

May do Atlanta again for a couple of days at the end of July (this one is still up in the air, easy last minute trip though).

Disney in August for 11 days (this is our big trip of the year)

Atlanta in November for 6 days for Thanksgiving.

May go somewhere else in either September or December (maybe London, though may do that in January instead, sister is living there with her boyfriend so good excuse to go over)

So about 6 or 7 vacations this year though most of them are shorter vacations. This is about average for us most years (including the wedding yearly, we've gone to at least one wedding a year for the past 6 years).

We've been going to Florida about 2X/year. We also do 1-2 beach vacations and several shorter trips a year to places like Buffalo to see the Bills play and to to WVU for football games in the fall. We also like to go to NYC & Baltimore.

I try to plan at least one overnight trip every 8 weeks or so to help balance the hours we work on a daily basis.

we go 4 or 5 times
Wdw feb 05
WDW oct 05
Dl April 06
Hilton head aug 06
Wildwood Sep 06
Wdw Dec 06
not countin over night

If you factor in all of the times we go somewhere that requires an overnight stay (even though the MI trip to the inlaws isn't a vacation by my book), I'd say we go away 6 times a year. Only about 4 of those require a stay in a hotel, since we do weekend trips to visit family in NJ and WV sevearl times.

We just got back from almost a week at the beach.

We leave on the 14th for a trip to NJ and to Sesame Place (5 days total).

The dreaded 10 hour drive to MI to see the inlaws comes up early August.

We'll also probably do a weekend visit to Dutch Wonderland in PA.

And this year...we are adding our 1 1/2 week to Florida and Disney!!! We don't get to do this trip each year, though, so it makes it extra special.

We take 2 big (a week or more) a year and lots of 2-4 day long weekends where we usually head to the San Francisco Bay Area, Portland, Ore., Seattle or Los Angeles.

We live in a small town and I try to get a good dose of brain candy for my kids every couple of months.

We also have a pop-up tent trailer and we do a lot of camping May-Sept. all over N. California and Lake Tahoe.

okay.....I still stuck on the post that said that her husband got 60 days of vacation a year!!! I want that job!
My husband does not get any paid vacation!! It makes me so mad!

This year we spent:
November 2 nights Yakima - high school state VB
February 1 night Spokane - BB tournament
March 5 nights in Vegas - Nascar
March 4 nights in Yakima - high school state Basketball
May 2 nights in Moses Lake - High school state softball
June 1 night - ID softball tournament
July 9 nights - WDW
Sept or Oct - 4 nights Vegas

We usually take a few trips to visit family in Portland and we take a weekend in August to Seattle.

We usually try to go on 2 a year. We have a timeshare in Nags Head, NC and we go there every year. Then we usually try to go somewhere else once a year too. This year we already know where, and we saved a long time for this, so we probably won't be taking any extra vacations for a while. We will have to make the best out of one to Nags Head.

We go on about 2 a year. This year it was the beach and then upcoming WDW trip. Plus maybe 1-2 weekend trips, usually job related, and occasional visits to our parents who aren't too far away.

This year:
Mar 24-31 - WDW solo/girls only
Apr 7-9 - Cape Cod
June 30-July 5 - White Mtns, NH
Aug 12-26 - WDW annual 2week vacation
Nov 17-19 - NH
and ?

It's never enough for me!
Usually we go away 2-3 times a year.
This year we have:

Feb - we went to the Bahamas for three days
March- quick getaway to a resort in upstate NY for my birthday
July- We are going to Vegas for my sister's wedding for four nights
August- 2 day getaway to sesame place
September- a week at Disney! Yay!

I'm working on getting dh to agree on a little trip to Miami in November or maybe skiing in December.
This is actually quite alot for us this year considering we did a week in Disney at Christmas last year too....I swear all I ever think about is vacation! :teeth:

Posted by WMACKLEIT: okay.....I still stuck on the post that said that her husband got 60 days of vacation a year!!! I want that job!

My DH is in the military, he is an instructor at the training academy at Ft. Indiantown Gap. He really deserves 60 days off since he gets shipped to Kosovo for 3 months of the year and to Texas for another 2 months of the year. We only have him home for 7 months and two of them are spent on vacation with us. I do miss him when he is gone, but it is also nice to travel alot, so there are drawbacks. I get 30 days because I negotiated it into my contract when Ii got hired ( I didn't except any benefits from my employer since my DH has great medical benefits)

We try to do one big vacation per year (this year my husband went fishing in Canada and my DD and I will be doing Disney), and about a dozen or so weekend trips to Wisconsin Dells (indoor waterparks, etc).

Some years we go on more than one large vacation...some years we don't go on any. My busiest large vacation year was the year I went to England, Egypt, Canada, Germany, on a Western Carribbean cruise, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany again. THAT YEAR WAS CRAZY, but I had lots of fun planning everything.

I live for vacations, so I have the next several planned already (shhh - don't tell my husband :) )!

As many as I can get away with.

Every four months minimum, I fly down south to see my DBF.

I take my daughter for one big vacation a year, then atleast one mini one. Visiting friends someplace usually (no hotel cost then and usually no food/car costs either).

I live for mini vacations, if it is out of the state (even by one mile) then where I live it is a vacation and every bit of stress I have been feeling is gone!

Usually 1 vacation/year although there are several trips (5-6) ranging from 24 hours to 10 days to visit family in another state. But to me, that's not a vacation, that's visiting family. So, usually 1 family vacation per year. Just about every year (except this one) DH & I will go somewhere by ourselves & leave the kids for 'quality time' with the grandparents.
I'd like to do 2 trips next year. A driving one over Spring Break & a summer one that will involve flying. However, I'm currently looking for a job so a lot will depend on the kind of job I get (& at this point, if I even get one!)
