How many towels are in a 2 bedroom?

When we checked into our 2 bedroom at OKW we had 4 bath towels, 4 hand towels and some washcloths. We always stay in a 2 bedroom and we always have only 4 people in the units. On T/T day, I asked mousekeeping why we had so few towels and she said it was because we only had 4 staying in the room so we didn't need towels for full capacity. I know that isn't right because when we checked in, we had our choice of three rooms so nobody knew where our party of four would be staying until we got there. Not a big deal. We wash every day so we just threw the used towels in with everything else. However, I want to make sure we get the right amount next month. Thanks.

I believe since a 2-bed can accomodate 8 people, there should be 8 towels. 4 in the 1-bed side and 4 in the studio side. Sounds like this mousekeeper was pulling your leg.

You should have had 8. They don't give you just one for the number of guests in the room. Sounds like they didn't leave any in the whirlpool area and only two in the studio.

You should have 8 bath towels, 8 washcloths, but only 4 hand towels.

That's what we've been told on 3 or 4 trips when we had 8 people and I called for more hand towels. I tried to get Housekeeping to understand that if you have 8 people, each person should have their own hand towel. Even speaking to a supervisor on 2 trips, that has not been successful. She said the units are stocked per bathroom, not by the number of guests. And (according to her), you are supposed to have 4 bath towels per bathroom, 4 wash cloths and 2 hand towels per bathroom. The extra sink area by the whirlpool tub is considered part of the master bath.
On our last trip, we had to get an extra towel package (which meant we had more bath towels than we needed) to get extra hand towels.

I would have assumed there was a bath towel, hand towel and washcloth per person. We have always had plenty of towels during each stay. This was the first trip we noticed we were short. Of course, after mousekeeping left, we had a TON of towels. She left us enough for two units. Can't win.

We assumed that there would be one hand towel for each person, too, but in about the last 4-5 years, we were short. The last 2 years when we asked for more, we got the "that's how many are supposed to be in the bathrooms" story and they would not give us more without making us pay for a towel package. Before that though, when we said we had 8 people and only 4 hand towels, Housekeeping just delivered us more without any problem.

From the DVC Member website (bold/color emphasis is added)each bathroom contains:

Whirlpool tub (master bathroom only)
Shower massager
Hair dryer
Towel Package
Toiletries starter pack
Pay As You Play
All accommodations offer daily housekeeping service with a 24-hour notice and an additional fee.

Also from the member website a towel package contains:
Towel Package, $6.00 - 4 bath towels, 4 hand towels, 4 washcloths, 1 bath mat

Here's my experience:

In February 2004, we were in a two-bedroom and were "shorted" on the towels. I'm simply called housekeeping and told the person who answered that I was short "X" number of bath/hand towels/washcloths. They were delivered in minutes, no questions asked. Sounds like I may not always be so lucky.

I guess I'll have to bring the list with me next time. This has happened to us enough times and at enough different palces that I think it's not just an oversight. Specifically what we have been told is that the "towel allowance" is 2 hand towels for each bathroom (one for each sink). If there are only 2 people staying in each studio, or 4 in each 2 bedroom, they can probably get away with using that as standard stock for the rooms without anyone complaining (or probably even noticing) because each person has a hand towel. I think that might be what they are doing because it would save 4 hand towels per unit and most people would not notice.

When we have called, we have told them we were "short X number of towels". In the past, they just brought us up whatever we said we were short.
But, on the last few trips, they asked how many of each type of towel we had. On our last trip to OKW, they told us we had more than the correct number for our "number of bathrooms". We had 2 hand towels in the master bath (one for the sink by the whirlpool and one by the sink in the bathroom) and 4 hand towels in the studio portion; which the supervisor said was 2 more towels than we were supposed to have there. (Although we were short hand towels, we actually had more washcloths than the "bathroom allowance" They didn't ask for any back. ;)
So, on our last trip to OKW, to get 2 more hand towels, we had to buy a towel package. Interestingly enough, I had washed and folded towels and left them neatly folded on the whirlpool deck. They left those alone and put up a whole new set of towels, so by the end of our trip, we had a lot more towels in the room than the "allowance" plus the extra towel package.

That is exactly what happened to us (and has happened in previous trips). Although in previous trips I don't remember ever being short, when they did T/T, they would leave us this huge stack of towels. This time when we were shorted and asked for more we were told no. Yet, they left us enough to shower with for a week and we were only staying one more night!

We were short two sets of towels at OKW in a 2br last March. We had 4 people on the ressie. Only one set (2 of each type) in the 2nd bath. I called and they brought the extras.

And at BCV last October, we were short one set of towels (only three in the unit and 5 on the ressie. We knew we would only get 4 sets - so no problem here, but 3 sets was not enough.) They brought about 10 more bath towels in about 10 minutes. Only asked for one set.

I wouldn't want them to leave towels based on # people on the ressie. How would they know if you started with 8 or not unless they are diligent about it and refuse to bring more unless they have proof of how many are in the room

Just another example of all the communication differences at Disney.

Either that or OKW is really going downhill. ;)
