How many things that you need are within walking distance of your home?

I'd only walk to these places if I needed to but the pharmacy I use, my dentist, my cat's vet, 7-11, and a couple of pizzerias.
We are talking at least a 10 minute walk to the closest ones and 15 or 20 to the other things I mentioned. .

Just about anything anyone might need.
I would agree.
However OP may need to define what walking distance is. People here on the Cruise Line forum are complaining that the half mile walk from the ship to the beach at Lighthouse point is too long. The lady in the OmegaXL commercials is overjoyed that she can now walk 6 blocks, which is most cities would be about one-third of a mile. We used to have to run multiple laps in PE on the 1/4 mile track in High School.
My definition is one mile, or about 17 blocks in most cities.

Nothing! Our mailbox and local paper delivery box is half a mile from our house! :D

Almost everything, including the metro stop (I am including everything that is within a mile radius). So banks, drug and grocery stores, doctor, dentist, library, post office and UPS offices, a hardware store, restaurants and coffee shops. I walk a lot, and I have a granny cart to wheel my groceries home. Our city has a free bus service that I can take places also, use that for Target. Have to drive to Costco though.

A grocery store is a 15 minute walk.
Bank and dentist a bit further, so ~17 minutes.
A store that sells lawnmowers/snowblowers is about a 12 minute walk. Pretty exciting :)

We had a bar that was about a 10 minute walk, but it closed earlier this year.

None. The only thing nearby would be a neighbor that would help me in an emergency. Anything else would require transportation of some sort.

My son's elementary school is 5 minute walk. Other than that, there's nothing 1 mile or less from me.

Roughly 1.5 miles away there are things like a library, park, restaurant. But it's down kind of a busy road with no sidewalk so I don't really consider it walkable.

The idea of living in a walkable city really appeals to me on some level. However....I don't like people or crowds or noise....so I just don't see myself ever actually living somewhere walkable.

Our main house—nothing. So we bought a second home where we can walk (within 1/2 mi) to the beach, dining, grocery, stores, pharmacy, gym, restaurants—everything really.

Nothing. Closest restaurant is 4.5 miles away (I guess I could walk but state highway with no shoulders or sidewalks, I'd be taking my life into my own hands). Second closest is 6 miles in the opposite direction, no gas stations or grocery stores anywhere near. There is one gas station next to the 6 mile restaurant that has been built but sitting unopened for years. They have been working on it recently so we are cheering every time we drive by it hoping it might actually open soon.

Bars are something that is not within walking distance of my home, and I don't know why. The Alcoholics Anonymous Club is within walking distance, maybe that's why.

it's 10 miles to the closest ANYTHING (including any public transportation pickup sites) so we are grateful to be within walking distance of some great friend/neighbors.

A local Grocery store is a 5minute walk, the local pharmacy 3minutes dentist 4minutes, GP surgery 3minutes
We don't have any restaurants or coffee shops unfortunately within walking distance.
All our large stores are around 10minutes by car.

We live "in town" so there is a lot within a 5-10 minute walk from my house: Four full service restaurants, a pizza place, 3 quick service/take out restaurants, three microbrewery/taprooms, a gas station/convenience food store, three coffee shops (one attached to a shop with bulk spices, bulk coffee beans, wine, specialty items, etc.), two barber shops, the town hall, police station, fire station, library, the town pool, and all three public schools (elementary, middle, and high schools). The University of Maine (where DH and I work) is a mile from my house. My bank is also about a mile away (oddly, the three banks we had in town closed) but there is a credit union. Unfortunately, the closest grocery store is a good 10 minute drive. All in all, not a bad place to live, if you like small-town life!
