How many Studio Plus rooms at BWVs?

I'm just wondering how many of the Studio Plus rooms (the ones with the extra daybed) there are at BWVs. Does anyone know? And if you know how many per view (B/P/S views) that would be great! I requested one of these rooms for our family and I am wondering just how many there are at the resort.

Reminder: You just have a request and not a guarantee. So you might get a regular studio with only room for four.

Thanks so much! We have a preferred view reserved for my DH's family and I feel better about leaving them in that (we were thinking of moving to standard view to save points).

The CM that booked us said they try to save these rooms for the reservations with 5 people in them, but he also said we could bring an air mattress as a back up just in case one wasn't available. We only need one of the rooms for 5 and then we have a second studio reserved for just the four of us, so hopefully it will all work out.

But now that I see the numbers, I will keep that preferred view for my DH's family's room so they have a better chance at getting the daybed since there are 5 of them.

You've been around enough that I'm sure you know what that "daybed" is. A four foot long padded bench that you'd need to be a small child to sleep on, and even then a air mattress might be more comfortable.

We had a room with a nice daybed, no problem at all sleeping on it, at AKL. My daughter spent half the night there after she wet the bed. The daybeds at BWV are nothing like that.

Yes, we had one on our room once, but we didn't need it (there are only 4 of us). My nephew is 5, and he will be the one using it (probably, he may end up in bed with grandma and grandpa--but it would be nice to have a 'place' for him to sleep if he wants his own space).

That's the nice thing about little kids, they can sleep about anywhere. But I agree, it is only for little kids. My kids (12 now) would never be able to use that daybed!

I told them to bring his sleeping bag and pillow, so I am sure he will be fine. He will probably be EXHAUSTED. This is his first trip ever to Disney, and I am sort of looking forward to getting to see his face when he goes for the first time. My girls have been so many times, and we are excited, but there is NOTHING like seeing a child's face who goes into Disney World for the first time. It is priceless!

Pal Mickey. And I doubt even he would be comfortable. There isn't a mattress on this deacon's bench. It's more like a thin foam pad.

It will work for a small child, but not a larger person. They won't guarantee the daybed, but they said we could bring an air mattress. I doubt we do that because, as I said, he would be happy on the floor and will most likely end up in the bed with grandma and grandpa anyway, so it isn't a big issue for us.

I would like him to have the option to use the daybed, though, so I am going to leave their reservation as a preferred view since it does look like there are more of these studios in that category and we should have a better chance of getting one that way (I hope).

Thanks for the information on how many of these types of rooms there are at the resort. We will cross our fingers and hope we get one.

We stayed in one on our first DVC trip in '03. It was room 2059, and we overlooked the Village Green. The room was in a great location and we were right off the main entrance, no lugging things down those LONG hallways.

I called twice today asking about the studio plus rooms. Both times they told me that they did not exist and that you can only put 4 in any studio. My youngest is the size of a 5 year old even though she is 8. I also have no problem with the air mattress idea. But...we have 5 people and I really was excited when I saw this thread while doing a search on this topic. Most of the posts are from just last month. Should I keep calling and hope to get a CM who knows about these rooms. We want to do the Dining Plan so I need to be in a room for 5 so we can all get it. Any thoughts?

You have to have at least a one bedroom to have five in a room if you are staying on points. If you are renting through CRO, you must rent a two bedroom. Even then you have to provide your own bedding and linens for the fifth person. As was stated in the earlier messages, they stopped offering the Studio Plus as a request many years ago, maybe 2001 or 2002.

I know this is from last month but wanted to correct what I feel is faulty thinking. The percentage of dedicated studios for each category is pretty close so there would not be a significanlty higher chance of getting the day bed with one category vs another. DVC has gotten more strict on this issue of 5 in a studio, thank goodness, just make sure you have 5 listed on your reservation.

No way go guarantee the studio plus. Just keep calling to put 5 on the reservation until you get someone who says ok.

They stopped these direct reservations, and therefore guarantee of this room type, a couple of years ago. No way to guarantee this type but on can request it. But realistically, they should only be listed as sleeping 4 plus a SMALL child anyway, which was the rules prior to the direct booking being discontinued.

The policy through MS has been 4 plus a child under 3. With the studio plus, they were more flexible officially. I don't recall the age cutoff for certain so someone could correct me. The age of 6 comes to mind.

Perhaps the CM didn't know about these, the one I got was VERY familiar with them and he even called BWVs directly while I was on hold because he wasn't sure if they had the daybeds in the standard rooms. He came back on and said they did, but they didn't have the dates open I wanted, so that is why we got the preferred view.

So I would suggest calling back also to check on this. The date I made the reservation was 11/28/05, so it wasn't that long ago.

This will probably be the only time we ever use this option, but it is nice that we can do it this time because we are out of points. We are saving up for a GV in two years! So next time we will have plenty of room!

I don't know the age cut off for these rooms, but here is what it says on the Allearsnet.com website:

Studio with Daybed: - Includes everything in the Studio room plus a five-foot daybed. Per Disney, this Studio with Daybed will accommodate "four adults maximum, plus one child who will fit in the daybed, plus one child under the age of three in a crib".

I bet your renter was mad. I'm glad to see MS sticking to the rules. I think I would be strict with you since you kept changing the list of guests without calling back and talking to someone else.
