We are planning a WDW trip in June. We have 3 boys ages at the time will be 14 months, 5 years and 8 years. I know I will need a stroller for my 14 month old but do you think I will need one for my 5 year old? My 8 year old should be fine but just wasn't sure about the 5 year old. Any suggestions on what to do or what not to do with my 14 month old. I have been to WDW before but never with a young child and I want to make sure he has a great time.

Last year we went to Disney with our 3yr old and 5yr old boys. We had a double wide umbrella stroller that worked great. I would definitely have a stroller option for the 5 year old. You can buy really cheap umbrella strollers at discount stores such as Wal-Mart, Target, K-mart, or borrow one from a friend.

This year we have 1 extra boy, he'll be 6 months when we go, so I'll be taking the double, front and back stroller. My 6-1/2 year old will have to walk!

In October we took our 2- and 4-yr-old girls and brought the double-stroller (front and back). Next October when we go, we will also have a 3-mos-old. We will bring the double-stroller, and everyone will have to take turns. We'll also bring the Baby Bjorn.

Even at 4 1/2, my daughter would get very tired of walking, and sometimes would actually fall asleep. This is hilarious to me considering the child has barely ever taken a nap in her life!

My dd was 6 this past trip and we had a stroller for her.....I like that the pace is quicker with her in the stroller and I enjoy having the storage space,,,,

We went last year, and our DS was 5. We did not bring a stroller, and had decided if we 'needed' one, we would rent for one day, and zoom to Wal Mart and buy one. Well, DS shocked us. He walked his little legs off, and was ready to go go go every day.

I think a lot of things worked in our favor:

We were there in January--temps were nice, but cool
We were there in January--crowds were non-existant
There was DH and I, and my parents, so we had him outnumbered 4-1.

I think if it had been in the middle of the summer, and hot hot hot, it would have been a different story.

Geez--I wasn't much help, was I? Sorry.

Definitely! Our DS is 5, and having an umbrella stroller was a real life-saver on our last trip. It was August, and very hot! He would walk for a little while, but then want to ride most of the time. It saved us because we didn't have to hear "Will you carry me, please?" when we were too tired to carry ourselves! We could also go at a faster pace when we wanted to... :D

We are going with 3 kids- 17 mo, 3 and 6. We are bringing a double wide umbrella stroller because it folds up more compact than our tandem double stroller. I figured that all 3 will take turns with it. You will be so glad to have it at the end of the day when walking to the busses/car and back to your hotel room. Also having at the airport is handy too!

If you find that you don't really need it, then leave it in your hotel room. Better safe than sorry.
If you do buy an umbrella stroller, just be sure that the handle bars are high enough to comfortably push around all day. Some of them are pretty short.
