Standard view rooms make up slightly less than 20% of the total. The 2 bedrooms (and the studios and 1 bedrooms) are scattered throughout the resort. It's hard to know how many of the lock offs are "reserved" as 2 bedroom units - it could be 0 (unlikely) to 149 (also unlikely).
To be sure of getting a SV of any size, you'll need to book when the 11 month window opens. For some times of the year, you'll need to book day by day (or be willing to suffer the waitlist).
Here's the number of each room size from the POS:
97 Dedicated Studios
130 Dedicated 1Bdrm
0 Dedicated 2Bdrm
149 Lockoffs
7 Grand Villas
Total is 383 Units (532 Max. Available Rooms)
Unfortunately, I have to wait for the 7 month window. If my BCV add on comes through prior to July, I can make 11 month window reservations there. We really want to be in that area (not for us..we're bringing DD's best friend and she's never been to WDW). We like all the DVCs.
There's a difference between could you get BWV and could you get Standard view. You've really got pretty good chances of getting into BWV at 7 months unles it's during Food & Wine. Even then, use of the Waitlist could do the trick. It's that standard view that will keep you out. They just go too fast.
Dedicated studios at BWV have one queen bed and a full-size sleeper sofa. There is no connecting door in the living area, so they have room to add in a small bench seat.
I think you are confusing it with dedicated 2 bedrooms that generally have two queen beds in the second bedroom instead of one queen bed and a full-size sleeper sofa. BWV doesn't have any dedicated 2BRs but they have them at BCV, VWL and SSR and OKW. BCV is a special case because only some of the dedicated 2BRs at BCV have 2 queen beds. The rest have the queen bed plus full-size sofa bed. Confusing, isn't it!?!?!
The more room types they have, the more difficult it is to book a week worth of what you need. Right now, if you want a standard view studio at BWVs, and you are booking at the seven month window, you might get MT in a Preferred View, W in a standard view, Th in a Boardwalk View and Fri back in that standard view. The more room types added, the more "holes" appear in the system as the rooms book up.
(I think the room think at VAK is just about the stupidest thing DVC has done since I joined. I think the resort is a great idea, but they should ALL be Savannah View rooms - the studio, one and two bedroom thing is hard enough to book around.)
I tend to agree with crisi as far as happy that they don't have more of those units. While it's nice to have two real beds in a studio, it limits the flexibility. If it is just a couple staying there they don't have the nice sofa to sit on and watch TV, eat, etc.
You can always make a bed from a sleeper/sofa. You can't make a sofa from a real bed!
I'm fine with the current set up of bedroom configurations...but maybe that's just because our needs are not as stringent as others.

I don't want this to go off topic, but not sure I understand the concern here. Of course, I'm not much of an AKV expert having only skimmed the information on that resort. Maybe this comment/concern would make a good thread on the Mousecellaneous board?
