I keep getting frustrated that I can't get a ressie for BLT. Today it dawned on me that there might not be that many standard views. So how many are there?

Not sure of the exact number, but suffice it to say...NOT ALOT! I want to say 70% of the resort is Lake View, which I found out when I was not able to get a 2BR standard (and I called exactly 11 months in advance).

Standard View at BLT is approx. 10% of the units, Magic Kingdom View is approx. 20% and Lake View is approx. 70%.

I called two days after my 11 month window opened for a std view 1 bedroom Dec. 4-8 and couldn't get it.

The CM I spoke to when I called at 8:59 est at my 11month mark had my standard 2 bedroom showing available and then it was gone when she tried to book it- very frustrating. She said that the standard rooms go fast (obviously since it was exactly 9am and they were already gone). So now I am in a lakeview but waitlisted for standard. Obviously, the 10% of standard views is the most popular (probably due to the lower points). Good luck getting your reservation- did you waitlist?

this shouldn't matter......how little....% of rooms. something is
very wrong.....with the system, if there are no rooms available
...@ 9am, exactly 11 mos....

[we are new @ this, & our first time...has been "an education",
to say..the least.]

....i am not shock..how some are trying to manipulate the system
..[ not for intended purposes]. what was shocking to us....
is the fact, disney have not addressed this issue.

for example, dcl...only allow a certain % res. @ palo to be booked
ahead of time. the majority, is kept in reserve until arrival day.

....this is unacceptable, to call exactly @ 11mos., & get right thru
& ...there was no....1~bedroom available. [ mk &/or std.]

that meant....we are totally wasting our time....for something we
were promised [ a chance..@ booking a room.].

i have read enough here to know..there are other factors effecting
these bookings.... professional bookers, only reserving ...
...."block" { associates}....of rooms, to resell for the biggest $
amount..later on. * it is obvious... that blt...is the place to be
& non - members...will be seeking those resvs.. on a secondary
market. we have work commitments....& no way, able to compete
...with those doing this type of resales. my guess, the associate
...calls in the week before..& under different members/ # books,
get off & calls right back.

that is one person taking up many revs..

this to me, it is like buying a new car without the motor.

...& to "us"...this was a expensive investment. the reason was to be
able....to book a room for our family vacation @ blt. we didn't buy
to rent points...or anything else. & already..we're having difficulties.

You need to remember, with the 11month +7day booking system you need to have enough scheduled checkouts before or on the start of your vacation to have ANY availability. It does not have to be commercial types, it could just be families vacationing slightly earlier than you.

One of the built-in issues with the 11month+7day booking system is, if you are planning a trip for 12/22-12/29 but the majority of BLT Std. vacationers would take a trip 12/20-12/27, the "majority" actually booked all of your first 5 days 12/22-12/27 2 days before you called .. The only way to run the system to your advantage would be "walking" i.e initially call at the window of a earlier (i.e.) 12/19-12/26 , then each day add on an additional day and cancel the one(s) you do not intend to use.

When we decided to purchase DVC, we thought long and hard about which resort to buy into. BLT and Kidani were our choices, and it was a very tough decision for us as we loved so much about both of them. We decided on BLT, and our deciding factor was that we thoughf if we EVER wanted to stay there, that should be our home resort so we would (should) be guaranteed to get it at 11 months.
I couldn't get a 2BR STD when I called at 9am, exactly 11 months in advance. I went ahead and booked Lake view and waitlisted STD. I had all hopes that my waitlist would come through. I just called the other day to check on the waitlist and do you want to know what the CM told me, after she told me that 5 of my 8nights were now not available in STD? She told me I really should try to book 11 months in advance!!!! WHAT???!!! When I told her I DID, and she even double checked me, she seemed very surprised.
I am definitely disappointed. We are bringing extended family who want to stay at BLT. They don't make it to Disney often, so I am going to have to take one for the team and use extra points I could have saved for next year.
In the grand scheme of things, it's not a big deal. Just a little disappointing. Wish I knew back when we purchased that it's not so easy to get what you want at the 11 month mark. But, it is still Disney, and that's not such a bad thing!

This exact scenario has happened to me as well at BWV. They too have very few STD view rooms and even fewer 2BR STD view. I've called at the 11 month window only to be offered a preferred view because the STD's were gone already.

In a way it's kind of bogus that they have so few of the lowest (point) cost rooms. Some people buy their initial contracts with the expectation of always staying in a standard view room. Then they wind up in a pickle when they can never get them even at 11 months. So when we decided to buy more points I calculated the points based on the LV rooms at BLT. I just assumed I'd rarely if ever get a standard view.

I booked BLT for our trip in March at the 7 month window. I was disappointed to hear that only 3 of our 4 nights were available in standard view. I booked the lake view and waitlisted, not expecting anything. Less than a month later, I was happily surprised to find a letter in the mail informing me that my wait list came through! So there's always hope!

From work2play's thread, the current speculation is that there are 34 2 bedroom standard view rooms. Of those, only 8 dedicated 2 bedroom standard view rooms.

I forget the exact percentage, but approximately 60% of BLT is declared. This may mean only 20 standard view 2BR are available to DVC members right now.
