Just a thought...

There are a couple of people I went to school with - graduated way back in 1990 that are divorced 1,2,3 times or on their 2nd, 3rd spouse. Now I know many people make mistakes, things come up, people change, etc. But how many times do you have to walk down the aisle :confused3 Elizabeth Taylor or not when do you think enough is enough just live with the person, you don't have to marry every boy/girl friend?

I was just having this conversation with my mom this weekend.

A good friend of my DD (my DD is 15 the boy is 15 also) is moving and his mom may be getting "another divorce." This woman is about 38 and is already on her 4th husband. Her two kids come from the second husband.

You know, I'll give you a free pass for marriages #1 and #2 (in her case) but what's up with the rest. I just don't get it. I figured by #3 she would have gotten it right. I feel sorry for my DD's friend. He is a good kid and has made a wonderful attachment with stepdad #4.

I sometimes Joke around with "THE WIFE", that if anything every happens to her...

I would never ever be able to marry anyone else, because Ive learned my lesson.

My aunt has been married 4 times. She's been single for a couple of years now. Maybe she finally gave up. :confused3

:rotfl: Me too!!!! I tell my husband that all the time. No worries sweetheart, you've cured me of ever wanting to get married again...

Hmmm, I don't know. I guess maybe each time they think/hope it is "the one". Maybe they are eternal optimists. :confused3
Some people just hate to be alone and would settle for anyone that comes their way just to avoid being alone even if only temporary.

I guess when I hear about people on their 3rd and 4th marriages, it just makes me even more grateful for what I have, and want to wish them lots of luck! :)

A woman that I used to work with just divorced her 8th husband....she is 42. She is always bellyaching about the the horrible men she somehow ends up with. I told her after 8x.......it is probably her, seriously.

Hubby and I decided we're never getting divorced. Sounds good, huh?

Anyway, I think that after 2, I'd probably give up myself. We don't have many multiple spouses in our family. My parents will celebrate 38 years on Thursday. My older sister divorced her first, but will celebrate 8 years with hubby #2 at the end of the month. I see them staying together. Younger sis and I are on #1 and plan on that being it. My FIL was married once before MIL and only one of hubby's step-sisters is divorced from her 1st hubby. My grandparents got divorced after 45 years, and neither ever thought about remarrying.

Wow...really nobody has had more than 2 spouses that I can recall.

well maybe after the 3rd or 4th time you should skip the "till death do us part" section of the vows because everybody in attendance is just going to be secretly thinking, "uh huh. " :lmao:

This is an interesting thread. How do those who have been divorced many times affect the reported divorce rate. For example, I often hear, over 50% of marriages end in divorce, but I'd be curious, what is the statistic for first marriages that end in divorce. If I were married four times and divorced three, my personal record would be three out of four marriages ended in divorce. Anyone know? :confused3

Hmm...interesting thread. I have been married twice and on my way to my second divorce. Should I give up on the thought of ever being happily married? I don't know if I'll ever get married again, but I'm only 33. :confused3

I found this:
The chance of a 1st ending in divorce over a forty year period is 45%.
The divorce rate for 2nd marriages is 60 % higher

And I'm guessing it goes up from there as well % wise.

I don't think so. :goodvibes I think after #3 though, you might want to question things.

Me three!!!! :rotfl2:

But to answer the question...

I would say after two divorces one should really examine himself/herself and the partner choices he or she makes.

I don't know what to tell you. My DDad had been married 7 or 8 times. My Grandmother once said he needed to just live with them, but he wouldn't. :confused3 He even went so far as to "hide" one of them. They pretended they were just friends.

I wouldn't move onto #3 without some serious counseling. I keep choosing very abusive people. I don't want to do that to myself or my children. :(
