Just approximately.

I have 8915 songs in iTunes, but I only rip the songs that I enjoy to my hard drive for transfer.

EDIT... see post #4.

Zero. I don't have an MP3 player/collection.

Holy cow that's a lot of songs! I thought I had a lot with 303!

Well, these aren't song that I bought from iTunes, but my collection since when I started buying CDs when they came out in the 1980's. I have only bought about 30 - 50 songs from the iTunes store.

I just got my first ipod....very behind the times. So I have just started transferring my cds. There are about 2500 songs in my itunes now. I want to get the equipment to convert lps and cassettes too. I have a million of those.

My wife's the music lover. Current count in our music library is 12,370 tracks (and you know, knowing me, that every single one of them is legitimately licensed).

I finally signed up for ITUNES yesterday and I burned my first CD with it.:yay:

So how big of a hard drive do you need to do this? Oh and how do you load your own CDs into your computer? Is there a way to just burn selected songs from you own CD to your ITUNES playlist?

1. My almost 9000 songs take up ~ 50GB.... it all depends on length of the songs, and how compressed they are. I keep mine fairly non compressed at 256 KBS. ( Sounds impressive and hard? No, it is easy )

2. To get songs on your hard drive from CDs. you open iTunes, and "IMPORT" the songs you want. So easy that I know an 87 year old who uses iTunes.

3. Yes. Create the playlist and burn it to disc....

Really, all you need to do to understand iTunes is just take a look at the drop down menus and see what you need to do. It's pretty simple.

Good luck! :thumbsup2

I will be working on it today. I am having so much FUN!

Thanks for the timely topic. :thumbsup2

I don't have an IPOD yet however I prefer CDs anyway. I was so happy to find out you could just burn CDs.

5798 - but I divide them on playlists for specific tasks.

Workouts, long drives, grand baby in the car etc....

We have over 20,000 in the library. I only have about 5,000 of them on my iPod. Most are DH's music.

8,569 songs, 31.1 GB in size.

But those aren't all mine; some of them are DH's, and some of them are kids' songs. We basically ripped down every CD in the house so everyone can load music onto his or her Music Phone.

Yeah, I have a whole folder full of Barney and Raffi songs.. I could probably delete those now- DD7 finds them WAY beneath her dignity.

I have 736 songs. The majority of them are from CD's. :)

You are like me. (I don't know if I even bought that many.) I stayed up a whole night into sunrise one morning ripping my CDs. I have about 900 of my favorites on my iPhone. I never had an iPod before.

It really is a lot of fun for us old geezers! :lmao:

I have ripped our CD collection, and I have a Zune Pass - 8189 songs on my Zune HD at the moment.
