How many songs in your mp3 collection?

Well, these aren't song that I bought from iTunes, but my collection since when I started buying CDs when they came out in the 1980's. I have only bought about 30 - 50 songs from the iTunes store.

You must have an awesome collection! What are some of the songs in your collection? I mean, are they all the same genre?

I pretty much cover the gamut...

I'll just list my biggest genres, and you can be sure that I have the biggest hits:

Southern Rock
Classic Rock
Swing - both new and old.
Disco
Hard Rock
Bands from Philadelphia
Pop
and absolutely I have TONS of Motown - technically not a genre, but IMO, it should be. :thumbsup2

I also have lots of Old School rap / hip hop.... I am a big fan of Sugarhill Gang, Tone Loc, Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch..... Rob Base.....

I finally signed up for ITUNES yesterday and I burned my first CD with it.:yay:

So how big of a hard drive do you need to do this? Oh and how do you load your own CDs into your computer? Is there a way to just burn selected songs from you own CD to your ITUNES playlist?

To rip your cds to itunes, just open Itunes, stick the cd in your cd drive and Itunes will walk you thru it automatically. I'm a bit of an idiot when it comes to these things, and even I can do it :rotfl2:

I've got about 4000 songs on my ipod, but I don't have all the cds ripped yet.

Can you pick and choose songs? I would prefer not to rip the whole CD. Guess I will have to try it.

Maybe 50-75 or so. I have a very small older mp3 player, I think it's an RCA. It holds 4 hours' worth of songs, then takes chips to hold more songs too and I have one chip. I bought it about 8 years ago and used it a lot when I started walking for exercise. But haven't used it in a long time now. :(

I'm old, I still buy CD's but have been noticing that stores are carrying less and less of them as more people go to downloading songs from itunes, etc. :( But I don't even buy CD's all that often anymore, not with having Sirrius/XM radio in the car and house. I just mostly listen to those...and my old CD's. :)

One of these days I'd like to transfer all my old records (45's and 33's) to CD's. :)

:scared1: Ok here's the same question for you as I asked Big Cuddly Bear, what genre of songs do you have? Is it mixed? I see I'm waaaaay behind you all with my meager collection! I need some ideas!

Definitely mixed. I have everything from Slipknot to Beethoven. The two artists I have the most of would be Dave Matthews Band and Bob Marley but I also have stuff from the 60's like Dylan, a lot of 90's stuff, and then some medieval music and even African tribal stuff.
