How Many Rides on Pirates of the Caribbean are Enough? Now Completed 11/4/10

Well keep writing like this and posting all these awesome pics and you'll have me tossing the cruise idea right out the window!!!:rotfl: Oh man I can't wait to get back there! I love breakfast at CP and I think I put that on my ADR list?

Your castle shots are wonderful.:cloud9:

.

That was a fantastic couple of updates.....never have tried CP for breakfast and I didn't love it for dinner, but we're definiately going for breakfast now:cool1:

Beautiful shots of the castle and I have to agree that one photopass picture of all of you is great!!

Reading that last update with the picture of the path from the monorail actually brought a tear to my eye....your pictures make me feel like I'm right back there!!!

I know--it's hard to think of a cruise when you want to go back there so darn bad!

Crystal Palace breakfast has to be the nommy-ist breakfast at Disney, imo.

And I appreciate the compliments on the castle shots. I've walked around every angle trying to catch it in its best.

CP breakfast seems a bit more laid back than dinner. Dinner can be very chaotic.

I do love that photopass picture--it's framed! :thumbsup2

And that picture from the path makes me feel like I'm back every time. The monorail to MK was my first experience with Disney parks and it's so etched in my head!

Okay, promise not to revoke my DIS status.

How do you get to Tom Sawyer island? I haven't been there...I don't even know if I've ever been there. I'm going to assume I went as a kid, but I just don't even remember it.

And :lmao: on the rooster.

You take some great photos, I like the different perspectives, especially Mickey and Walt. :thumbsup2

LOL--there's a landing near BTMRR--on the wooden walkway. Boats take off from there back and forth all the time.

I think your boys would like it. :thumbsup2

Okay, excellent. :thumbsup2 I know the boys would like it, so I'm hoping to squeeze it in on our upcoming trip.

We really enjoy Tom Sawyer Island too. It's a nice place to get away from the crowds for a while. Now that you've pointed out the rooster laying the egg, I need to go back and take a look-see.

How sweet of you to sneak in a package for the nice CM. I am sure she was happy to see the Basin surprise. I love Basin!

I have been enjoying your report. It looks like you all had a lot of fun. I have never been to Tom Sawyer's Island. I'm glad to hear that your family enjoyed it, maybe we will give it a try sometime.

It's really nice for a leisurely afternoon stroll. :thumbsup2

The rooster laying the egg is hilarious! It makes you wonder if it was purposeful to see if people would recognize it for what it was!

Basin is awesome!

Do try it, and thanks!

The thing I can say the most about this summer Disney Vacation is that it was the best one ever. The family has been to Disney every year since 2007, and we absolutely had the best time ever. After a good dip in the pool and rest in the room, we headed back over to Magic Kingdom for one more night.

First stop? Apparently, there was only one thing that they needed for Daddy and Boo day that could not be done at Animal Kingdom:

DSC_2458.jpg

After a whirl on the teacups (as fast as we could), I dared my other two children to walk off leaning their heads to the left.

Stinky fell down. :rotfl2:

From there, we took a few last rides on Barnstormer, which I love at night!

We had never been inside Donald's Boat. . .

Boo ringing the bell:

Then, we felt like we needed to look inside Mickey's House for old time's sake:

I love these overalls!

DSC_2469.jpg

After that, we decided to find a spot on the bridge next to Cosmic Rays for the fireworks.

I :lovestruc the castle!

Before long, it was time for fireworks. . .

I thought these colors were beautiful on the castle!

Tha castle on fire from the pirates!

We loved the fireworks, but it was late. Sweetie and I said goodbye to Stinky, Daddy, and Boo, because we had plans for EMH. . .Up next:

So How Many Rides on POTC are Enough?

I love hearing about your best family vacation ever! That's so sweet.

I can't wait to see how many rides on pirates was enough.:goodvibes

looks great!!! I love the fireworks. They are the same from the Pirates and Princess party but IMO they are the best!! I love that the soundtrack is included on the Party CD!!

Great update otherwise, by the way, but I'm still laughing over this!!

Thanks, TK! The only problem I have is that it will be the last update for this trip report, which makes it bittersweet for me.

Thanks, Megan! I have to get the party CD! I know usually when I see it, it's at the Haunted Mansion cart.

It's too funny! Poor thing--I should not have told him to do it, but I didn't think he'd fall down.

I usually fall down.

HI! I'm totally like, WAY late! But I'm here! I've been lurking the TR boards for a long time and am finally starting to chime in... I've got 32 pages of reading to do tonight!

Meanwhile, the kids are playing over in the kids' area. Look at the concentration on Boo's face!

Photo0540.jpg

When that was over, and dh was back, I decided to go over to Summit Plummet myself, but when I got to the top, I chickened out and did this one:

Photo0548.jpg

I know, I'm SUPER late, but I have to chime in here... That look on Boo's face is TOTALLY justified! Those iceburgs are HARD to cross! I did the College Program and was a lifeguard at Blizzard Beach and we had to go across them when we started just so we knew what the kids were doing on them...

And you chickening out at Summit Plummet... :lmao: The slide you chose to go down is SO MUCH harder on your body the SP! A lifeguard has to "test" the slides every morning to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with them... I did them both multiple times and even me, who is absolutely terrified of heights, thinks SP is way easier to go on. It looks more intimidating, but it's a much better slide... Try it next time! :thumbsup2

nice update!!!! I LOVE Teamboat Springs (you can fit the whole family in that puppy!)!!! My one roommate broke her finger on the ride though! We went one of our days off and we got into a raft that was deflated and her hand was on the side of the raft and when we hit the bottom, the raft edges folded in and whipped back quickly and her finger went snap with it!! She ended up having to go to PT and couldn't lifeguard for 2 months!

I didn't know that had that many PP CMs at the park! A cute pic for a time when you're there, my college roomie and I got a pic holding up the tubes in the wave pool and stuck our heads in the middle. It was a super cute pic and one of my favs from when I worked down there!

I broke my ankle working Teamboat Springs! There was a VERY large man riding it and while I held the raft for him to get out (after I told him multiple times to exit to the SIDE and not the back, but you know how well guests listen!) and the raft got launched back at me, knocked me over, and snapped my ankle.... I ended up getting stuck on light duty at World of Disney in the stock room putting security tags on shirts all day....

I know that it has to be difficult--I just love that look of concentration on her face for that. We love BB--not great fans of Typhoon Lagoon, but BB is the best.

I have to do SP next time!

Thanks for reading!

Pooh--that does not sound like fun! I would have much preferred being at BB.

Teamboat Springs, btw, is actually close to my favorite!

Do any of you remember the Boys2Men song, "It's so Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday"? It was my Senior class song (c/o 1992), and for some reason, when I think of the end of the night this night, it's the song I hear in my head everytime.

The fireworks had ended. DH was walking Boo and Stinky back to the bus lot.

And Sweetie and I had the whole of the Magic Kingdom for the next 2 hours.

And we meant to do some damage.

It's not often that I go thorugh Disney without taking many pictures. This is one of those rare occasions when there was "noplace to go" and "nothing to do". This was one of those occassions when I was there to soak up the beauty that is the Magic Kingdom.

Sweetie and I walked to the back of Cinderella's Castle, and marveled at the mosaics on the walls. You know the ones. They tell the story of Cinderella, from her humble beginnings to her wonderful comeuppance on Anastasia and Drizella. We also took a look down Main Street, USA.

DSC_2581.jpg

We walked around the castle, excited to look at the building. I took a pictue of Cinderella's Royal Table:

DSC_2589.jpg

And then went on to Fantasyland. Our first stop was Peter Pan's Flight--something that is almost impossible to ride on a regular day. There in the queue, I took this picture and uploaded it to Facebook. Tinkgurl mentioned in a trip report of hers that it looks to mean "No Dancing".

IMAG0037.jpg

Then, I put away the camera and cellphone for good for that night.

I know we rode the Haunted Mansion, as I love the ambience of going in there from the dark. I know it's the same inside, but it feels different to me. We headed to Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain. I love riding them at night and seeing Cinderella's Castle in the distance.

And then we did what we had been meaning to be the last thing we did the entire time:

we rode Pirates of the Caribbean.

Twice.

As we left the ride, I felt a certain amount of calm. Not that those last two rides were enough. Just that I knew they were enough for now.

We walked back towards Main Street, grabbed a snack at Casey's Corner, and then went for our journey home.

Photo1011-1.jpg

Not that any trip would ever be enough. But for now, it was.

And the count for Pirates? 7.

And no, that will never be completely enough. But it's enough for now.

Just make sure you listen to those lifeguards when they tell you how to get off that raft... :thumbsup2 Shockingly, the do actually know what they're talking about! :rotfl2:

Actually, I loved being a lifeguard at Disney because it's a role that is taken SO seriously! We had an hour of training every single morning before the park opened and were constantly being tested....
