How Many Rides on Pirates of the Caribbean are Enough? Now Completed 11/4/10

You know, I have never understood the tour guides telling you to avoid the AM EMH parks. I have done several of those and let's face it, most people don't want to get up extra-early on vacation! I actually think AM EMH is a great time to get in some extra attractions!! Of course I travel in the off-season, but still....

I think they plan on people not getting park hoppers. When the park gets too crowded, we leave. Simple as that. But if you are planning on getting 3 good hours in (which is what you'd get for going at rope drop until lunch) then AM EMH is the way to go and we'll be planning more of them.

I only have one word for it: BOYS.

Dan ordered the tea here, which was infused with peach.

This was the best drink we had at Disney. It was just sweet enough, light, and refreshing.

Yak and Yeti has a mango version like this. SO GOOD! I don't drink soda and this was the best thing I drank all week. A nice departure from lemonade.

That so sounds like something my husband would do.

And like you, I waver between utter mortification and laughing my *** off. :lmao:

I can't believe it, but I'm officially at three weeks with no Pepsis. I can drink a Coca Cola and walk away, but I have an addiction to Pepsi. I haven't figured what I'll use the refillable mug for, but I can assure you that I'll think of something. They still have plenty of non sugar sweeteners, right? I am thinking of tea. And coffee in the morning. Even if it is Nescapoop, I still have to have some kind of coffee to function.

I keep thinking of Yak and Yeti. What's good there? Other than that fried wonton dessert I keep seeing.

That so sounds like something my husband would do.

And like you, I waver between utter mortification and laughing my *** off. :lmao:

I know--what great role models for our sons, right? :lmao:

Are you sure Dan and MJS weren't separated at birth? He always claims he really isn't part of his family and has a propensity for Italian food. (It's a good thing I can cook a mean lasagna)

As the thunder rumbles outside, I think of a clear day, when we are where the buffalos roam.

Okay, there weren't really buffalos in Africa, but you get the picture. After I pulled my husband (not the kids, the husband) away from the drums, we headed on over to the Safari. There, we did something we have never done--we walked directly onto the ride. No wait. No fastpasses. We just walked on. :thumbsup2

We started on our ride, and I see something different everytime on it. Like earlier in the week, the animals were really close to the road.

I think this is best picture I've ever gotten of one of the rhinos:

The giraffes (and I am sure these are the same ones) found some lovely leaves away from the road today:

Excuse us, while we munch on these lovely trees. No pictures please. If you insist, we'll hide beind that grass

A baby elephant (that's one big baby!)

As we walked off of the safari, I had to take this picture of the Tree of Life. It was such a beautiful, clear day!

:cloud9: Gosh I wish I was right there right now.

We headed back across the park to use the fastpasses for:

As we got on the ride, dh noticed I had my camera out. Now, if this had been the point and shoot camera, he would not have said anything, but this was the DSLR with the $900 lens we had just gotten. He was mortified. He was like, "no". I said, I just want one shot and I know where I want it. I was in the middle of the ride, and I knew I could get the shot perfectly.

I think he was probably miffed, because he didn't try the nose thing again, even though all of the kids wanted to.

But you know what?

I got it:

The Tree of Life from atop Expedition Everest.

I quickly put the camera safely back in the bag before we even got to the broken tracks!

And dh?

Laughing his fool head off at me.

That is one awesome photo! It is so cool to see the Tree of Life from that perspective.:cool1:

Well, good to know that if we ever had a family meet, it wouldn't just be you and I that got along famously. :lmao:

Amanda, that picture from the top of Everest is amazing! I'm so impressed.

Getting caught up!!! I love that shot of AK!!! I love turning around in my seat and getting the whole view of WDW, including the castle and all!! I'm pretty sure that's not a good idea but it's a quick look ya know..kinda like your picture lol.

All caught up. I love your picture from the top of Everest.
:lmao::lmao::lmao: at your dh's picture. My dh would do something like that.

I know, right? My plans are to get that picture at night in December. :thumbsup2

Thanks!

Awesome!! :woohoo:

See, I'm glad all of my Dis friends get it!

And thanks, TK!

He's a silly person, I'll tell you!

So, after my picture and with the most of Animal Kingdom complete, we must have done Kali Rapids, because here is Stinky trying to get someone wet. Look at his face--this right here is why we call him Stinky--he is such a stinker, finding delight in gently harming the most unfortunate souls.

DSC_1873.jpg

We then headed out and over to the Tree of Life for a photopass picture.

Everytime we look at this picture, we refer to it as the picture with the "Sheldon face". Look at Stinky, he is so showing off for the picture.

And he knew we were heading over for our last hurrah at Star Wars Weekends.

We parked well into the way back of Hollywood Studios. It was a ll an ominous feeling. Piles and piles of forested areas in front of us--no sign of the big hat. The trams running at Warp speed.

We had to go here, first, though, while we were there:

Yet another wrong turn near Endor, and we were on our way to see the parade.

Or at least we thought. The only thing we really learned is that this particular parade--the Star Wars one--get there EARLY. This was across the street from us:

DSC_1881.jpg

It wasn't too long before we saw this, though:

DSC_1887.jpg

How the heck did R2D2 get out of Star Tours so quickly?

DSC_1937.jpg

And then, the king of mean, who Stinky still maintains is just misunderstood,

DSC_1966.jpg

The parade over, we split up. Boo wanted another go on the Rock and Roller Coaster. Stinky wanted Star Wars merchandise.

At some point before all of this, I must have snagged some Fastpasses for RNR, because I had them.

We rode it, and then went on to TOT. . .

At which time, Boo said, "I never want to that one again."

Wow, why couldn't you decide that before now, Boo?

At some point, dh called and said they were on their way back, but wanted to know how we were going to get back (they, of course, had grabbed my car).

:headache: Dude? Do you remember the bus system?

Boo and I waited about 45 minutes for the bus to get there. That was the point where I determined that I only take buses to Magic Kingdom.

The bus system is great, for what it is, but if you have another quicker option, you should take it every time.

Trust me.

I agree with you with the bus system!! If we have a car, we are going to drive to every park except MK. The last few times we've stayed at POP, it's the best bus service I've had!! figures right??...

What is nutty is the fact that it was after Dan had taken my car, he wondered if he should figure out how I would get back. He says he knew I could get back, but wasn't sure how. :headache: I think being tired was getting the best of us by then.

We just love SWW! Such a great parade, but it definitely gets crowded. I'm impressed that you've already been to 2 parks. Isn't he SW parade in the late morning?

It is in the late morning, and believe it or not, we are finished with the different parks!

It's funny, because before the ill-fated not-quite-3-hour drive to Schlitterbahn whereupon we vowed we were NOT driving to Disney, DH had said that even though we'd have the truck there, he just didn't want to drive while on vacation and that the buses are part of a Disney vacation.

If we were staying at POR again, I'd worry (is it me or are the buses there getting worse??), but, seeing as we'll be on the Monorail line this time......!!

I have not ridden ToT since they randomized it.......I'm trying to decide if I'm brave enough to try it again (they also only had a lap bar back then.....I'm much more into the seat belt idea!!)
