Hi there...

I have finally settled on dates and resorts and everything is booked! YEAH!

I have 9 nights at Disney - 5 nights at Beach Club - 4 Nights at AKL.

There are some things I really want to go to that I will do PS's for (ie) Spirit of Hawaii, Fantasmic, and I'd like to see the fireworks from the California Grille.

My question is basically - how many PS's do you usually make?..

I know we also want to try the Sci Fi & Prime Time, Coral Reef, Boma & Cape May and something at Downtown Disney... but I don't know whether it will be lunch or dinner or even what days.

I don't want to tie myself down with too much of a schedule... is it hard to get PS's the same day or the day before for places like the PrimeTime, SciFi.. Coral Reef etc... ? Or should I book a few now and cancel later if I change my mind?

Thanx for any advice out there... this is for Aug 23 - Sep 1st.

Thanx

We usually have 2 a day. Either for breakfast and dinner, or lunch and dinner. If we eat a big breakfast, we snack for lunch. We go to WDW as much for the food as for the attractions. However, we almost always split the entrees. The only exceptions are the buffet type meals.

But do you book them now before you go.. or do you book them there? Have you ever just walked in without a PS?

We are not doing breakfasts because we are staying concierge and we did CRT, PSB & Donalds at DAK last year. So it's basically lunches and dinners.

Thanx

I've got four so far ... I'm going with my boyfriend who doesn't want me to plan where we're going to be eating every meal  but he knows that if there's a restaurant that he or I really want to go to, we should have a PS. Otherwise, he'll be hearing 'I told you so!' for the rest of the day :p

We usually have at least one if not 2 a day. I always make them in advance so I have the PS. Once we get there and get going if we decide not to go to one of these it doesn't matter, unless you have to leave a CC number like CRT. The time of year that you are going it may not be difficult to get a same day PS, but I just like to have them before hand.:)

I make them before I go. The first time my husband went to WDW he couldn't believe all the "trouble" I went to making sure we had PS. The first day there (lunch at Le Cellier) we walked in right behind a group of 4 that was being turned away because there were no available tables. After telling that group to try back around 5:00 pm, the host smiled and led us directly to our seats. I didn't say "I told you so", but did wear a smug look for the rest of the day.

I have to say that we always make at least one for each day, sometimes 2 a day, depending on the size of the party. We have very specific restaurants that we love and they are a traditional part of the WDW experience. I spend several hours in consultation with family members, and then several hours on the phone with the lovely helpful people at WDW DINE

Also, to be honest, I kinda have to - while the rest of the family can eat anything, I am highly allergic to eggs and wheat. Making PS means that I can actually eat SOMETHING as well. And in typical Disney spirit, this absolutely amazingly wonderful chef at Hollywood and Vine made me a BROWNIE that I could eat for dessert.
PS pays big-time!!!

I would make PS ahead of time for the Sci Fi just to save yourself some time. If you decide to eat lunch there without PS, it helps to go early but expect to be seated in the back of a car. We had PS for dinner at Boma and Cape May and they did seem fairly busy. Boma was kind enough to seat us an hour early (AK closed an hour earlier than I realized) without any trouble but most of the parks weren't that busy when we went just a few weeks ago.

On average we have one PS per day... for whatever large meal we are having that day.

We always make PS, for any restaurant that takes them, ahead of time. Even if it's a restaurant that usually doesn't need it. Typically 1 - 2 per day. Once park hours are out we usually adjust if we change park days and once we arrive we make a few changes as well.

We usually do 2 a day. Once we're there, if things change, we adjust accordingly.

Enjoy your trip!

We are doing a 6 day trip in August and will be making 3 PSs. Plus we plan to eat at ESPN once. The rest of our meals will be food court, counterservice and possibly one more sit down meal.

For our 8 day trip in December, while its very preliminary, we are planning on 6 PSs, 1, possibly 2 more sit down meals that dont accept PS(ESPN & Beaches & Cream), and the rest will be counter service/food court.

I'm taking just my girls in August for a quick 5 day trip and have decided to forego any PS's. This will be the 1st time that I have done this but I absolutely do not want to adhere to any type of schedule. If it means all counter service than thats ok too. But when we do our big family trip in Nov/Dec I will be making daily PS's normally 1-2 a day.

For our 14 day July trip, I have made 5 ps reservations so far - at resorts/Epcot. 60 days before, I aim to book 3 more - then I'll probably leave it until I get there and book a couple more on a whim at Guest Relations desk in my resort.

I think that this will be enough for us as we do have a few counter service favorites that we have to visit - mostly we eat cereal in the room for breakfast- bring it with us. Try to avoid the food court - we always seem to hit it when it's really busy.
